Devastated!

Some posters like putting a negative slant on Things. Arguing whether he is past it or is not as good is pointless. If he comes we can judge for ourselves if the move has worked out. No one in their right mind unless trolling or are looking attention genuinely think messi to city is a bad move.

He has been and still is better than any player currently in our squad and that is no disrespect to Sergio, Kev etc.

If he comes enjoy watching him play. That is the thing with football everyone has an opinion, mixed in with tribalism and you have football bias which is what will now play out in the media. Suck it up we prob got 10 more years of this until dinosaurs like carragher, Merson are put out to pastor.

That's a downward trend - in no small part due to injury.
That's not necessarily true though is it.
Take the PSG years (the last 3).

He played 30 - 28 - 27 games respectively.
No doubt you will claim the 3 games he missed last season were all guaranteed hat tricks.

That fence must be really uncomfortable Nev...
Old G Nev is desperate for Messi not to join the blues, it’s his worst nightmare. You can just see him with fingers in his ears shouting that he can’t believe it , it’s not happening. He can’t accept that Messi would choose little old City over everybody else.

But it hasn't dipped.

I think the problem is you just don't watch him play. If you watched him and Barca regularly this season you'd have seen that he was as good as ever just in a deeper position. He can score 35-40 league goals a season if he was up in the front 3 with a good midfield but Barca surrounded him with Vidal, Rakitic, Sergio Roberto.

So instead he moved deeper, became more of a creator and broke all assist records in spain whilst also scoring 26 in 32. And thats despite Suarez being genuinely past it and Griezmann playing like a fan who won a competition. Messi this season with Suarez from 2015 would have got 40 assists, that's not an exaggeration.
Well I will admit I do not watch him regularly. I watched him this season in the Champions League games. I think he has struggled in those games. I agree about Saurez and the other players in the Barcelona squad. This is a squad that has grown old together and the new signings have failed. He's not quite so quick or mobile as he was and that is no doubt why he has dropped a little deeper to find space and control the game with his passing. A lot of great forwards do that. I would love City to sign him, but I am realistic enough to know that he is a at the end of his career and age is beginning to have an impact.

That sums up what I feel about the current Messi. We would probably get a good couple of years out of him.

Is that the rag shithouse wanker who was sports editor at the MUEN ?

If it is, he was already on our case when we were shit. I remember he always used to pick out one of our few quality players, as going to the swamp about 2 weeks before we played them or a big game. Knikladze was going there several times.

Out of all the subversive fucks trying to do City down, he is one of the originals.

This will be like having his balls chewed off by Piranha fish, but every week, for years.

Have it you ****.

Or, to put it another way, 'The only way that Grealish could have more of an impact at Utd than Messi could at City, is if Messi stopped playing.'

Pretty harsh, but pretty fair. Lol.

I am amazed how much shit, internal politics going on inside Barca with their own media and its used not even against the rivals like Real or Atletico but to fight the internal battles. And this totally includes the sporting decisions in terms of signings, managers, contracts etc.

Its like imagine Khaldoon having instruct media to write bad stuff about agents of our players or the players or any other board member who might nor favour Khaldoon or something like that.
Or leaking some conversation between Txiki and De Bruyne to stir up shit if he wouldnt want to renew...

Fucking toxic, I dont know what is the point of all this.

I keep getting this sinking feeling that Pep will meet Messi and actually try and convince him to stay at Barcelona ffs. I hope i'm wildly wrong, but it'd be a very Pep thing to do...

I think he will stay at Barca they will offer to messi new contract for life that you will not be able to reject and with promises of a new president in the new elections and there will be a deep restoration, this is the feeling here in the Catalan city, and also the Influence of the family who love life in Catalonia, especially the children are 20 years seated in Catalan life, it will be a situation that will be turning his head many times, Barcelona gave him everything, only God will know what will happen in the end. I would love to see Messi in the premier with the city and guardiola but I think that cannot happen, he is more than an idol, there are two generations that have given us many unforgettable moments, it would be a beautiful finis story, I would not emotionally want to be in his situation, but If he is really forced to go out, it whant Manchester City, my heart is in pieces for 14 years living it live at home and many times abroad, it will be what it will be ....SORRY my inglis.
