How many games can you think of where we would have won by converting more chances? Southampton? Chelsea? Wolves?
You disagree clearly but stats suggest defence really isn’t a problem

No they don't, they suggest the absolute opposite, it's just that people are assuming goals against, in tight games, at key moments don't effect the team.

Peps Barca did not batter everyone 4-0 or 4-3. They win 1-0 & 2-1 as well, like Liverpool.

Too defensive, I think we’ll line up;

Ederson

Koulibaly - Laporte

Rodri

Sterling - De Bruyne - Foden - Bernardo - Torres

Messi - Aguero

With Jesus, Mahrez and Ake coming on for Rodri, Koulibaly and Laporte in games where we’re cruising.

Pep is aiming for the zenith - mega-Cruyff total football tictacs 10-0 or go home football.
Can't be serious? No chance haha. Only 2 defenders!

See how bad the papers,Sky report Kev & his by the looks of it ex agent of Kevs...

We are about to sign the best player on the planett & these cnuts will try & black list KDB

Norwich away likes this post.

Absolute fucking shambles at the back that day.

Thankfully the club are taking action, even though our defending isn't a problem lol.

Lol all we want boys. It’s clear we disagree on this and it’s fine. I do think the ‘City’s defence is a weakness’ line is a bit of a hangover and only 36 goals conceded last year would suggest so. But you are right in saying the club is strengthening both areas.

anyway this is a transfer thread...

Our goals scored also suggests that’s not a problem either.
I don’t think either are really a problem, but both can be improved.
Same can be said about our midfield not being a problem, but again could be improved (bit more pace would help I think)
We’ve got a fantastic team.....

Ball bag saying clause has expired as per reports and that Barca didn’t even realise...

Messi considers himself a free agent...

If no clause a judge can decide his value (based on wages and realistic damages to Barca)...

Got a feeling this is just going to happen, soon, and with no regard for Barcelona. City have to take Messi at his word, that he is a free agent, if his contract has no clause.

And not getting caught like mugs.

We will need to win some games 1-0 & 2-1, with Messi, if Liverpool don't go to shit.

Quoting what I posted a while ago

It's those tight games where we really struggled, whereas the Dippers had the mentality and help to sneak through. 11 games where we conceded 2 or more goals and we didn't win any, Liverpool only did so 6 times and won 3 of them, huge swing. In fact, Liverpool managing to win 18 out 23 times despite conceding a goal, whilst we only won 9 out of 21, is a huge swing, and speaks to our mentality in those games where we have profligate finishing and then concede a soft goal at the other end. Our ability to rack up the goals where the going is good and we can bully teams has masked that. We've had half a season of very good results and performances, and half a season where we completely fall to pieces, so the Jekyll and Hyde analogy is very apt."

It’s ok for us not to agree on this. We aren’t clinical enough going forward. We were bottom of the league for converted chances. From a statistical point of view, if you were carrying out a data driven evaluation of strengths and weaknesses I know what I’d target.

like I say it’s fine to disagree and neither of us are about to say ‘Oh you’re right’ but if we didn’t it’d take the fun out of a forum.

Hence discussing the need for buying defenders.

Not sure I like the sound of this deal.
£375k a week - no problem
But then we’re giving him £180m of shares on top, plus any players we’ll be giving Barca too.
might as well just give him his £1m a week.
Or am I missing something?
thought sponsorship would cover his wages?
Share options are not a cost that is chargeable to profit & loss. Therefore - assuming the ruse works - a big chunk of remuneration would circumvent FFP. And any additional sponsorship would be classed as revenue.

Messi deserves a proper team, not a Brian Horton outfit.

We will get away with it more, with Messi's extra goals & maybe that will be enough.

But if it fucks up, it will again be the defensive unit.

Just sort it & we win everything.
Defend properly and cut out the sloppy errors eg Norwich away, Mendy's brainfarts at Chelsea and Wolves.

With a very good defence, no more than one or two, but it would be naive to think with Messi we will always score 3 or more, we won't, there will always be games where we miss our chances, even Messi misses.

Barca did.

People don't seem to remember it, but they missed loads sometimes. They won plenty of low scoring games by 1 goal & lost some low scoring games. Or had the ref:

We can get away with it more but we still need to be aiming for a defence as good as our attack.
