He will only sign for city if pep is here also, no way, reckon u might be onto something

I replied to a comment saying get Messi to hand Pep the pen, my point was that Messi wouldn't be signing without pep being here meaning don't stress about Pep his new contract is a given.

It's those tight games where we really struggled, whereas the Dippers had the mentality and help to sneak through. 11 games where we conceded 2 or more goals and we didn't win any, Liverpool only did so 6 times and won 3 of them, huge swing. In fact, Liverpool managing to win 18 out 23 times despite conceding a goal, whilst we only won 9 out of 21, is a huge swing, and speaks to our mentality in those games where we have profligate finishing and then concede a soft goal at the other end. Our ability to rack up the goals where the going is good and we can bully teams has masked that. We've had half a season of very good results and performances, and half a season where we completely fall to pieces, so the Jekyll and Hyde analogy is very apt."

How many times did Liverpool drop points, when scoring 2 goals ?

We can get away with it more but we still need to be aiming for a defence as good as our attack.
I agree, I think I misread your earlier post as thinking Messi would just mean we would outscore everyone.

We certainly need to defend better in tight games though, and that's been our biggest issue for me, but we also need to take more chances in tight games as well, and we did lose a number where we had 20+ shots on goal, compared to the opposition having less than 10.

It's a balance of both, but in tight games it often goes against us, Messi may improve that, but so will better defending, and we can't overlook it for the emporer's (not quite so) new shoes.

Ball bag saying clause has expired as per reports and that Barca didn’t even realise...

Messi considers himself a free agent...

If no clause a judge can decide his value (based on wages and realistic damages to Barca)...

Got a feeling this is just going to happen, soon, and with no regard for Barcelona. City have to take Messi at his word, that he is a free agent, if his contract has no clause.

I understand there are 2 different clauses:

1) The release clause of 700m€ which has expired by the end of last season and
2) the "leave now" clause which - as Bartomeu said - exists til new season starts and Messi has already triggered.

If Messi's position - being a out of contract - is correct we don't even talk about a release clause, no?

I'm sure Messi will improve that & he may just improve it enough that our dodgy defence can't stop us winning the league. It should give us an extra 20-30 goals provided Aguero gets fit.

But rather than just assuming he will, lets work really hard on defending too & get some better defenders in if poss.

Just think how much space Kev is going to get when Messi takes two defenders with him wherever he goes.

If his contract expires 30.06.2021, that is like 10 months left.

Surely there is a chance for Messi to buy himself out and the maximum cost would be in this case his 10 months salary, is that correct?

Also the employer could terminate his contract and the cost of that would be maximum 10 months of his salary.

How much is 10 months salary for him? Surely lot less than 100m + 2-3 City players total cost.

I really dont get why this option is rarely mentioned. If we pay anything to Barca it should be paid to Messi to buy himself out and that to me seem a cheaper way than whatever deal Barca would agree with us.
To my knowledge, that £100m+ was a figure plucked out of thin air and has no validity other than being oft repeated.

My worry is ffp.
We’ve just dodged a bullet and it sounds like we’re sticking our head down the barrel.
It might not be a rule now, but they can soon change that, they have before and we got fucked in the arse.
FFS, well let's not sign any fucker again, just in case. Man up
