They have no chance and they know it.

What is clear though is had both been interested or looking like signing him, the coverage of this story would have been wal to wall and completely different to what it currently is.

I've just seen a back page from the Star saying clubs and UEFA demand to see the numbers behind any deal lol.
They can stamp their feet and demand all they want let’s just hope our guys have this all watertight like they did the CAS case. And as for ssn I sacked it off last month really wish i hadn’t now just to see their pain and you’re right of this was the rags or scousers it would be wall to wall 24/7. Just enjoy it though. I might have to subscribe to sky again if this goes through just to watch them don’t think I’ll ever stop laughing!

Lionel Messi will make a U-turn on his Barcelona future and put pen to paper on a new three-year deal.

That’s according to former Premier League and England footballer Danny Mills, who told talkSPORT he expects the superstar to stay put.

Has there ever been a bigger wanker to put a City top on??

Haha Mills is an idiot.

If Messi was signing a new deal he would of turned up to PCR testing for starters.

Spot on. Always said Messi is a better footballer than CR. Doesn't take away from CR incredible achievements though. We are blessed to have them both playing the game in our lifetime.

I still can't get my head around the fact the worlds best footballer wants to join us.

Dreamland this.

Only things that ronaldo is better then messi at is , sit up’s and jumping up Like a dog catching a frisbee when going for a header

Those who claim or worry that Messi is over his best or too expensive are missing the point.
It’s Messi FFS!
The world loves Messi.
He comes to City and the world loves City.
It will elevate us well and truly into a world force in terms of following and as a consequence commercially.
It eclipses the importance of the Robinho signing.
It is a seismic moment in our history for the world’s favourite footballer to want to join us.
Amazing!

I don’t believe that for a minute they’re both interested but they both know his mind is made up and they stand no chance! Imagine the embarrassment if Woodward went all out to sign him now throwing money at him probably promise him they’ll pay double what we will! Then he turns round and says no I want city proper jimmy grimble moment! And they’d never recover from that level of rejection they simply would never live it down!

This isn't about money for Messi. It's about playing great football and winning trophies because he would be playing with world class players managed by the best manager in the world playing alongside his best friend in the world.

Going to United would be like jumping out of the frying pan into the kingdom of Hedes.

And Real Madrid fans, and Juventus fans, and Portuguese people... they're wrong, of course, but we're getting dragged into it nonetheless.
Not "Juventus fans" but rather "Ronaldo fanboys who joined Juventus from Madrid just because of him".
True fans don't get dragged into this farce, we leave it to the international 10-year-olds; they're both great players and that's it.
You're not getting dragged into it lol, you're not forced to join the 10 year olds. They'll simply swarm your team's comment sections but you'll just have to try and ignore them.

People will believe him too which blows my mind!

There are few players that I dislike more than Danny Mills, especially when they played for City. But he was a sicknote, constantly on the treatment table and got treated very well by a club which kept paying his salary even though he hardly ever played in the end. I don't think he ever got over being displaced by Micah Richards and harbours some weird grudge against the club. ****.

The problem they face is that Khaldoon has been laying the ground work for this for 11 years.

Graham Hunter went over it really well in his interview on 9320. In 2009 the club offered Barcelona a blank cheque and Messi wasn't interested, but they kept tabs and kept in friendly contact with Jorge Messi.

In 2012 The catalans come to City and we've got people the Messi camp know well. In 2016 when he's getting done for tax evasion (unfairly in Messi's mind) we're there reminding him he's always welcome if he feels like a change.

So obviously when 2020 comes around he knows where he's going, and the decision is made long before Ed Woodward or Agnelli pick up the phone.

It's entirely possible that if not for the decade long charm offensive that Messi would not even be thinking about leaving Barcelona. City offered him an alternative to compare Barcelona to every time he was unhappy. A club where he knows and likes the people in charge, his best friend is playing next to him, the coach who shaped his career is leading him, the executives don't fuck about in political battles.

The idea the press are pushing that Juventus or PSG or United are in the race is a load of bollocks and those clubs all know it, the decision was made before that burofax got sent.

Despite that goal against Everton, he is literally one of the shittest full backs iv'e ever set eyes on during my time watching City. Stephen Jordan is a close runner up LOL.

They don't give a shite if it's not LIVMUN.
Why would they though? They know that most people that watch them support 2 teams, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that they pander to them, really. It’s like Costa getting criticised for not lobbying for a cut in alcohol duty.
If Messi arrives, especially to City and not their major followers, Sky get absolutely no benefit and, in fact, will be at increased risk of losing their football coverage going forward. Overseas rights will go for more (sold by the PL not sky) and there’s a much bigger chance of Amazon/Apple making a serious bid for those and, as such, strengthening their hand when the next deal comes up in 2022. All that assumes that sky are still going, as they‘ve been decimated by Covid and are cutting costs all over the place (the real reason the brothers Grim were sacked from the Saturday panel show).
