This is obviously worded from Barca's perspective only:

"Lionel Messi hasn't shown up for his PCR test today in an attempt to put pressure on the club to let him leave."

Sound to me Messi's camp already entered the next level and that is
(in my words!):
I'm not a Barca player anymore, I HAVE left. Look at the burofax.
You've had your chance of negotiations, and you refused.
I will sign a City contract whenever I'm in the mood.
Go to court if you like.
If you behave now you get a second chance, maybe.

Btw, giving Barca some kind of generous symbolic compensation would only show City in a superior position giving the poor buggers a sweety. It would hurt Barca even more. They are a complete mess.
 
Makes it clear why UEFA slapped a two year ban on us out of the blue,not doubt hoping we would at least get a year,messi is a year older and has to sign a new deal at barca

We are not giving barca players ,they can buy them if they want

A lot of the media in the UK seem to be running with the angle that Messi has put in a transfer request. Have any actually run with the truth, the truth being that as far as Messi is concerned, he is no longer a Barca player and is in fact a free agent right at this very minute?

The media are writing shite about how much City with have to pay and how long this play play out for in the courts etc. Drop a nuke City and just announce the free transfer signing of Lionel Messi.

Messi believes he is no more a barcelona player. Club is saying he is . Club is hoping for all or nothing. 700 million or free transfer. They have some million pound to lose but not bigger than losing messi himself as he is already leaving. We cant move unless we have something concrete. Long process. Few days gone. Lets wait.
