All the enthusiasm shown last night seems to have taken a downturn this last hour, this will drag on all window even if Messi makes a statement anytime soon.

Messi is never going back to Barca now. And they can’t force him. What is he going to do, sit on the bench for 12 month?

Doesn't the Webster ruling only apply if the club holding the player's registration refused to play him?
No it only relates to essentially buying out a player with a year left on his contract if the selling club asks for too much in terms of a transfer. Doesn't matter if they refuse or the player refuses to play.

Im sure the Webster ruling came in because his club wanted Wigan to pay £5mill. Think they ended up paying £600k or something like that

Precisely, this is all about trying to maximise what money Barça can get, if they rebuild then Spanish league keeps its appeal. God forbid Spain’s big too flounder and a team like Sevilla win the league

That was FIFA’s initial tribunal value of Webster, CAS later reduced it further to £150k

When did Messi sign his contract? If it is more than two years ago then he can leave under the Webster ruling for the cost of his remaining wages under his current contract.

La Liga clubs love these silly buy out clauses but they don't take precedence if there's a conflict like this.

I think Barca are just playing to the media really. They'll get money for him as per the Webster ruling. Claim they got more than they should have and that will be that.

Why can we never have an easy transfer window, always gotta deal with some melt whether it's ADL, Bartomeu, both at the same time it's so boring

Yes, all we've done so far is resolve being short of the centre half and pacey winger we needed last season.

Wish we were like the rags or dippers who've already got all their business done. Sancho and Werner will make such a difference to them.

Is that La Liga statement actually one directly signed off from Tebas then?
Probably already been commented on - but I wonder how the move to get us banned from CL might have been linked to realisation that this could be in the offing and an attemot to stop it

Bart said in that video from Sept 2019 that he'd signed it 2 years previously. It was a 3+1 deal, and the three has just finished. That's about the only contract facts anyone who hasn't seen the wording knows.
