Bollox to the extreme. Sorry.

The argument Barcelona's "season ended" on August 23, 2020 (the day they were eliminated) goes against everything we know about how football seasons in Europe go every year.

The Champions League quarter finals are always mid-April when European leagues are still taking place. Leagues end in mid-May (May 18 was the last date for games in la Liga in 2019).

May 30, the "deadline" for Messi to leave on a free is about 1 month before the end of contracts for players, June 30 or about 2 weeks after the La Liga season is over.

Based on this, he should get AT LEAST a 2 week window to make a decision if he wants to stay.

When Messi came out to say he wants to leave it was less than 2 weeks since Barca was eliminated.

What is becoming abundantly clear is the club don't care about him or even the fans, sounding as desperate as ever throwing their greatest player ever under the rug. Encouraging loyal fans through a campaign of carnage to turn them into agents of his destruction even though the most honest ones know this approach is a disaster, clinging to straws and maybe better to just move on.

'Mas Que Un Club?' Their fans deserve better. It's sad really

Who gives a fuck about barca fans?

Who gives a fuck about barca fans?

Their fans matter in all this. We cannot pretend otherwise.

These portrayals influence their fans and the point is not necessarily about "their fans" it's about Messi's contract dispute.

The logic here is massively faulty and I've read lawyers say "a date is a date" as a justification for things.

These are all obstacles to any move.

The league will always be my primary target.

You can’t win the league being lucky.

You can in the CL. It’s prestigious, but ultimately a lottery.

We've won the league, and we've won it well. Whether we like it or not, the next step is the CL. That has to be our ambition.

How long do people use this 'luck' thing as an excuse? Four seasons back to back under our current manager? The best don't - it's a cop out and the way losers talk. We should want City to be the best, and the best don't keep going on about getting lucky, they make their own.

If Lionel Messi comes here, the greatest player of all-time, he doesn't just settle for the League. He comes to win the CL.

Anyone that doesn't deem the European Cup/Champions League the "holy grail" when it comes to trophies are in denial.

You're literally extolled as the Champions of Europe when you win it. Would be nice to have that alongside the perennial "Champions of England" on the mantelpiece.

down here in s america the sports news was focusing on sergio and his version of whats happening, however, they decided to show the headlines from the daily star ! city have to pay £670 mil, bit weird down here

Folks, this is going to turn into an unbearable saga. There is only one option for city to purchase Messi. They most convince Barcelona to sit and negotiate a transfer under 100 million euro. City cannot under any circumstances pay more than that amount and this has been filtered to the Spanish press who are very close to Soriano, Pep and Bereguistain.

It’s becoming more and more clear that Messi was terribly guided by his close circle and attorneys and they are now arriving at a bad juncture.

If indeed Messi is a free man why hasn’t he been signed ?

If he is free to leave why are city researching and filtering potential offers. The last info that was leaked to a member of the press in Spain of the most popular soccer show in Spain, indicates that city under no circumstances can go over 100 because of the FIFA fair play concerns and they are looking to offer players included in that 100. In particular Eric would be a player that Barcelona has shown serious interest for.

Now if Messi decides that he feels confident in the fact that he is in the right, he would always be able to get a provisional transfer by FIFA but the matter would lead a resolution by the courts and that could ultimately leas to City having to pay 700 million euros. There is absolutely ZERO chances that city will take that chance if Messi’s father this coming Wednesday does not reach a deal with Barcelonas president.

Barcelona’s president and club and at this juncture are not willing to let him leave for 100 under any circumstances.

Messi’s dad is in Rosario and he will arrive and meet with Barcelona on Wednesday or the latest thursday. This is a key date in terms of seeing how serious Barcelona is about their stance. Mind you Barcelona are in dire need of money to balance their sheet in order for the current president and him executives not to be financially responsible with their own assets for the losses, because these assets were used as collateral to obtain loans.

Messi made a clumsy mistake of challenging the club in the hopes that the president would fold with the social pressure and because he only has a couple of months of his tenure left, Barcelona’s president who is worn with Messi constant threats throughout the year has said, not this time pal.

Messi right now is not in a good spot and it’s starting to show by the hour. He’s very very close to signing with city; but it’s all a smoke screen until Barcelona caves in.
