The post was about sponsors - it couldn't be clearer. Of course, if you include the Puma kit deal then we don't generate 80% from Abu Dhabi. Do you want a prize for that? Do you think I can't calculate 65/227?

But I've reconsidered. You are right. We obviously can simply generate any amount necessary to sign Messi. Just get some of the non Abu Dhabi sponsors that have been lurking in the shadows to pay for him and rip up the Puma contract. Problem solved. Thanks for setting me straight.
We don't need to drum up interest from the UAE. Interest in Messi is global.

Had to google what this means in Spain and:

"

In Spanish the word denounce is “denuncia” and it is a complaint about something or someone. The police will investigate and see whether or not there is a case to answer,

So, if you think you have been a victim of a crime, you make a Denuncia at any office of the Guardia Civil or Policia Local. It is best to take your passport and NIE and a translator. When you have told your story, you will be given a copy of the typed up report and you made need to provide a copy to an isnurance provider if this is appropriate. Or to take it to a lawyer.

The police force you have been to have an obligation to investigate the crime and to decide whether to pass this over to a public prosecutor or not. Thus sometimes you may make a denuncia and time goes by and you never hear anything more. On the flip side, if you are told that someone has denounced you, it may be that they are just trying to cause problems for you, but the police do not take it seriously and you have nothing to worry about."

The last para about sums it up for me

As a fan with no knowledge whatsoever of finance or the law, i just think that as a club with one of the biggest revenue streams in world football and only growing, why cant we sign Messi?

This discussion wouldn't happen any other club in a similar position.
I think it would happen at any club. In fact, most clubs wouldn't even bid because it is not easy to see how its financially viable. That is why United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern, Juve etc aren't bidding. It is not because he's not a great player is it.

Those splinters will start to hurt im telling you.

One of the biggest revenues in world football, only growing and playing in the richest league but its only City that cant afford to sign him or pay his wages?

Sorry.....not having it and i dont think ferran or Khaldoon are either any longer.
I am not particularly worried about being able to afford bringing Messi to the club in the context of FFP (either financially or politically), but it’s a still relevant discussion.

I would say that, though, given what I do and my general interests. Perfectly happy to admit others will disagree.

Arsenal aren't bidding because they're fucking shit and he wouldn't go anywhere near them.

Is it because it’s been quite clear that there’s one club he wants to join?

I suspect we might be seeing an interview soon if Barcelona are going to start telling the press they will readily sue Messi for €700m if he leaves.
One of their presidential candidates (Font) is saying Messi will leave and it's the club's fault. He wants to move on without a protracted legal battle, he says. Common sense may be getting a look in at last.

Its because they know they have no chance would be my guess.

Those clubs announce a £150M deal this afternoon and not a single eyelid is batted nor a press article questioning the finances written.

It really is that simple.

Its absolutely relevant for a small few. The vast majority have zero interest though, admittedly through ignorance and lack of knowledge but then id throw at at any poster on here because no one, regardless of profession or experience has first hand knowledge like Khaldoon does or our legal team will have.

A separate thread would be a good idea imo for those who want to site at home with their wigs on and pretending to be in chambers. GDM will meanwhile be in small claims till 3 and in the pub from then till chucking out time.

They aren't bidding because they already know we've got him tied down.

Unless you've got a squad capable of winning everything, a structure that will let Messi just be a football player and a coaching set up he backs, he's not going to you.

United? Is that a joke? Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is going to make sure Messi's career finishes on a high? Arsenal? In the fucking Europa League?

You're just taking the piss now.

Whilst I'm not disputing the financial argument you put forward here - I think the main reason why United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern and Juve aren't bidding is that there's no point. By all accounts, Messi doesn't want to go to any of those Clubs, and has his heart set on City.

Just like no-one else bothered to bid for Sane - it definitely wasn't becasue they couldn't afford him.
