Exactly this. I've said all along. It ain't going to happen. We all deep down know it. From the day we got taken over we've been used as a massive bargaining tool. It's just been stept up a level.

I’m not saying this deal is going to go through but this is different to Kaka for various reasons:

1) Our profile is much higher now compared to back then. Kaka himself has since acknowledged this and stated it would’ve been a much easier decision to make if our stock had been higher in 2009.
2) Messi’s links to Pep, Txiki, and Soriano are undeniable, whereas Kaka had no links to anyone at City. No way Messi disrespects those 3 and uses our rumoured interest to broker a new contract at Barca. That’s not to say he wouldn’t have a genuine change of heart. After all, Barca are all he’s known for the past 20 years so it’s bound to be a wrench for him to consider leaving.
3) I’m convinced Kaka was on the verge of joining City but his head was turned back towards AC Milan when their fans turned up outside his city centre apartment en masse and started serenading him, pleading with him to stay. As far as I know, Barca fans aren’t doing anything of the sort and are instead demonstrating against Bartomeu’s running of the club
