Here's how i think this plays out:

Barca tell Messi they dont accept his request and they go legal.

Messi lawyers get involved and they say he is not going to play for them again (under current board) and will sue for lost earnings (£100m's that he might actually win). Fans back Messi as the board are cunts.

Messi does not train with the club. Season start looms / squad lists have to be in. Pressure mounts.

Agents break deadlock with a deal (very much cut price). £10m or thereabouts paid to Barca but possibly lost in player swaps - Angelino and Garcia (maybe Gabby will be the stumbling block). Messi signs for City on a package of around £50m for 2 years but with all sorts of options if he wants to leave.

the thing i don't see is the barcelona president resigning makes any sense to messi now being all good and wants to stay for another 3 years and build a team around him again ?? barcelona problem is messi they need change to the team a new vision and future and not build a new team around him, because he can not do it every week at his age and the pressure on his shoulders to produce the goods is to much and its why barcelona are struggling

messi needs a change ? barca need a change ? and its time for messi to move and be just a squad/team player not a the be all and this sort of player all your hopes are resting on, like a said if he come to city and scored 1 in 3 and played in and out and was coming off the bench now and again that would be great because you get more from him

so if the transfer request was a power struggle and messi was using it to get his way ? then barcelona are in a bigger mess than first thought, they will be just going through this mess for years because both messi and barca can not see it
