Maybe I overestimated this Jorge Messi guy, I thought when he comes over finally and speak with Bartomeu he will beat some sense into him.

Now they had a meeting, and seems like we are not much further. Messi wants to leave, Bartomeu doesnt sell and waiting for him to start training.

Get this to court today, no reason to delay any further.

They are letting Suarez, Rakitic, Vidal all go for next to nothing, zero transfer fee, with Messi they play with us...
Lets get his contract to our lawyers from CAS, lets see what the hell actually in it, if he can leave for free no reason whatsoever for City to lose lots of money because they want friendly exit.
If he wants friendly exit he has to offer his first two years of salary at City to Barcelona as a transfer fee.
Otherwise get this to court, let them come up with a final price if any and then we decide if that is ok for us or no.

We wont bend over to these...

They playing with us because it’s Manchester City the club everyone apart from city fans hates of course they going to drag it out as long as possible they have nothing to lose if Messi contract is correct.

We just sign him because we believe he is on a free Barcelona be after us.

So your right call there bluff go straight to the courts.

going to court will be a long drawn out process, years not days. So what does Messi do in the mean time? If he signs for us which he can, then we are liable for any fee awarded to Barça, we can’t just see if that’s “ok for us” we’d have no option but to pay. If we go to court Messi loses some of his reputation too, a reputation we are relying on to recoup our money! If it goes to court they WILL be awarded something so let’s just pay a fee now and save the mither. The quickest option is the best as it means more time to milk the Messi cow so to speak. All this drama does the player, the club no good at all and could put sponsors off, but if hero City swoop in and openly pay a nominal ‘undisclosed fee’ then it puts us in a good light. Fuck the media, let them say we paid €700m buy outs and pay him £2m a week... It doesn’t matter, the only thing that matters is what’s in our accounts and they are publically released each year so we’ll know in 12 months anyway but as long as it meets FFP it’s irrelevant.

Tbh feels like a good day, reiterating Messi is off, Barca saying they don’t acknowledge the contract = negotiations 88 mill should be wired tomoz and be done with it

The greatest player of all time, a gigantic club with a huge global fanbase, hundreds of millions of pounds on the line and an inept president who is seen as a laughing stock around the world and some of you seem to think this is as straightforward as ordering a fucking Happy Meal.

Get a fucking grip.

If you find yourself absolutely despising every minute of this bullshit then piss off and wait for an announcement on the official site.

Sorry for getting serious for a second but I couldn't find a GIF for it.

Agreed this will take more negotiating than the Palestine/ Israel problem, all this i’m done shite and why is it taking so long from some posters do me a favour, it’s going to come down to compromise if that duckegg of a Barca president knows the meaning of the word.

Nugget meal or burger?

I’d like to think you are right, which would make Cheese’s postulation of throwing in the kitchen sink look pretty stupid.
Haha, I hope I'm right too, I really do.
I'm with you regards Cheesy's information but I also think that he's an honest bloke who reports what he's told / what he hears. I know that he has good contacts, and gets to hear stuff earlier than we do and from better sources, but sometimes those at the top will want some misinformation put out and he'll get fed a line and report it in good faith.
As mad as it sounds, he could be right on this one too, for reasons that neither of us are aware of (life's full of surprises).
I hope not but you never know eh?

My guess is that it's the same people every time but it happens with every single transfer we get involved in which doesn't last a couple of days. Funnily enough, those are usually the best players we sign.

If it was up to some of these wetties we'd have left Kev to be hoovered up by Bayern.

If it is as simple as Messi's camp being correct about the contract and Barca refusing to honour then a simple employment tribunal should sort it out in a matter of weeks.

In the meantime the Fifa transfer document (spoken about yesterday/this morning) can allow him to come and train with us pending the postive completion of the tribunal (or Spanish equivalent.....i would assume similar process as we are governed by the same EU laws?).

I can only presume that the contract isn't as clear cut as we would like, hence why he isn't already enjoying the lovely Manchester weather....
