I'm quite sure uefa wouldn't have a say in it and if they did would they they really want the best player in world football to not be part of there tournament? Messi either plays for city next season or nobody that's how I'm hearing it.
If it's us or nobody and UEFA have to decide, what do you really think would happen?

Well that's where it is up to him to push this deal from his end. If Tolmie is right we have nothing to worry about, but if his camp arent forcing the issue he stays.
The problem is that he may not be right, in terms he is a free agent.

Nothing has changed. Messi is on strike. His only possible destination is City. The rest is a dance or a negotiation.Nothing is ever done until it’s done and I often use the phrase “many a slip b’twixt cup n lip” to talk about transfers but in this instance I feel like this is more a matter of when not if.
So you reckon he’s coming billy.

He already has put papers into FIFA has he not? I can't see what else it would be for besides the International clearance.
Somewhere I have read this.

It seems Messi and Barcelona are at an impasse but I think FIFA have tribunals to cover circumstances such as these.

I am unsure how Messi can obtain an international transfer certificate unless he has received an offer from Manchester City. I think that this route is open to Messi but City have to be careful because we do not want to be seen to be enticing Messi to break his contract. I think we can see now that Messi's relationship with Barcelona has broken down.

I think the next stage is for Messi to make some public statement that his relationship with Barcelona is over and his reasons why. At that point the way is open for City, and other clubs, to make an offer to Messi and at that point he goes to FIFA.

Barcelona have a tenuous relationship with the player. They risk losing a transfer fee entirely and they will damage the relationship with the player, memories and legacy.

From what i gather (i am probably dead wrong); we are not even close to him. The ballpark is at Barcelona atm and we are not even geting a "come-and-get-me" plea from Messi.
Why are you such a negative Nelly in virtually all your posts?

@Ric should take your username off you as your anything but a city DREAMER.

The best solution for both sides is Messi leaves now.

Barcelona
-won’t win La Liga or the CL with or without Messi, their aging squad is a year older. Main targets seems to be Eric Garcia, Wijnaldum, and Lautaro M. ? Not of the required quality.
-Messi can stay and leave for free next summer which means his yearly wages of about £60m will go down the drain.

Messi
-33 years old, a year is a long time for him at this age, doesn’t make sense to waste it under Koeman and the average squad that won’t win anything.
-moving to City means he has a great chance for the Balon d’or and multiple trophies.

It will get done imo.

It will until the next negative twitter comments come out in the next hour or so.
Dumbledore or whatever his name is will post 'Jorge is having a shit' and thats it, Messi has changed his mind and is signing for Liverpool for some posters on here.

Fair point, but whilst being one of the best ever players to have played the game do you think he'd have a destabilise effect on the team?

Given his age, he is at the wrong end of his career, is he worth this kind of mone, not withstanding the fact he will probably make a massive contribution to his cost through shirt sales and all the other paraphernalia that will inevitably come with him?

No I really do not see a down side to signing him. Particularly the way we play and the players we have. I dont believe he is an abrasive character who would cause trouble in the dressing room. All positives for me.

The only very slight worry is potentially having to replace him Aguero and Pep all at once, but you would'nt turn down a month in the the Maldives because you were worried about getting piss wet through when you flew back to Manchester would you?
