So what now?
We sign Messi on Monday,
FIFA send an ITC saying the fuckin season ended on 23 August
and Messi is clearly out of contract, no prob,
Barca sue City at FIFA and we are happy to go that route, again.
Messi won't go to courtlike he said, we do.

Nah.

I don’t think it’s over but dont see Barça dealing with us, nor do I see us paying anything near what they’d want. I think he’ll leave but think PSG are possibly the more likely destination when it comes to the money expected.
Yeah but i think Messi wants to play for pep and the other familiar faces at City, and anyway Barça can’t dictate to him where he goes to. They can’t stop the player going where he wants.

I agree, don't understand how people cannot see how good he is now and how better he is going to get, he is comparable with Messi at the same age.

Even Pep couldn’t leave him out if he was half as good as Messi. Great player but not potentially the best ever!

Said it before, but does a loan make sense? He doesn't want to be there, Barca probably are wary of him being there, fling him to us for a year. Family don't have to move, he goes back when Barca have new board, we get our best shot at the CL and a year of Messi in a City shirt.

If he does well we can look at a freebie too for next year.

All I'm saying is that you're not exactly painting the full picture.

It's more akin to scrawling on a cell wall in shit, to be honest

Living in the past about what messi has done is fine, I will leave that for you. City will be looking to to the future as Khaldoon recently expressed very admirably Foden is an important part of that future.
I cannot understand how messi's past is of any benefit or concern to us as fans or City as a club.
If he signed none of his past achievements would help us win a single trophy.
I am as happy about him not coming to City as I was when CAS completely exonerated our club.
Clearly many , including you were very "excited" about a prospect which City actually didn't acknowledge and would have been all about an individual not a team.

I mean it's not, is it? The only thing that would really end this is a contract renewal and I doubt that will be happening over the next month.

That being said, the only way this goes further is if we lodge a bid and I think it would have to be astronomical for Barca to accept.
The fact he’s staying without extending tells you everything.

My honest guess would be that his father/lawyers have said something like we believe you should be on a free but if it goes to court it would be 50/50.

Like others, I'm not entirely convinced this is done either. If I look at it from Barca's point of view, surely they now know that Messi is going to negotiating a free transfer in January so are they really prepared to lose £100m and wages on an unsettled player?

I'm not really expecting it to work, but from City's point of view I think it's a shot to nothing. After all we were probably half expecting to make a bid of around £100m anyway?

It seems madness to bid for the player now when we could get him for free, but that would be in 12 months time, and there's no guarantee we would get him ahead of a PSG etc

Next summer, hahahahahahaha, we're not a retirement home
No but we get the chance to see how he plays in 2020. I bet he'll still score 20 plus next season. Who guarantees that. I used to be the lone voice arguing against signing Messi cos I thought he was too old but this would be a free transfer.

Yeah but i think Messi wants to play for pep and the other familiar faces at City, and anyway Barça can’t dictate to him where he goes to. They can’t stop the player going where he wants.

They can refuse any fee we make though.. I’d love him this window but I personally wouldn't want a Messi a year older as the commercial draw diminishes for me. It wouldn’t be as bigger pull to sponsors.

Living in the past about what messi has done is fine, I will leave that for you.

And the club, clearly. Unless you seriously think it's coincidence that Pep, Txiki and Soriano all rocked up in Barcelona last week? Not to mention all the trusted sources who said he wanted to come to us.

You're talking out of your arse mate but I've heard your bollocks enough to know you fancy yourself over any mind in football.

Your deluded shite would be laughed off more often if you didn't spend so long waffling towards your point so much that most people paying attention switched off halfway through.

Even Pep couldn’t leave him out if he was half as good as Messi. Great player but not potentially the best ever!
Foden is the most talented young player I have seen but have you seen the debut goal Messi scored aged 19. I think it was against Levante. He ran from the half way line and beat player after player. 33 year old Messi doesn't score that goal
