If as he said he made his decision a while ago then he has obviously been discussing it with his wife maybe she has now come round to the idea because I believe he said she supports him. I’ll have one last go at this. Family is very emotive and appeals to everyone. We can all relate to it.
Messi did not say that was the reason for staying. Quite the reverse.
He clearly states the reasons. THEN he says he was so determined to move he was prepared to upset his family.
He’s saying he feels that strongly that he was prepared to upset his family who eventually agreed.
Why pretend he is saying something else? If it was a family decision he would have said so and probably extended his contract.
That MAY change in the future with a new board but it’s CLEARLY not the situation now. He gave all the reasons extremely clearly and it was the truth.

if he was happy to stay he wouldn’t of slagged off the hierarchy at the club. He would of towed the party line and said ‘everything had been resolved and looked forward to the new season’. He has kept it in peoples heads that he’s not there through choice. It’s down to us to get involved and offer a fee. Problem is that after next season Barca isnt Bart’s problem and he won’t have to deal with the fall out. Perhaps if we sign him in January to a pre contract Barca will tell him to go on loan so they can actually focus on football instead of the messi show. That may be to adult of them tbf

The interpretation about the family is wrong in my view. If he didn’t want to put his family through this ordeal he would never have spoken to city about a move in the first place. He was the one who stated that he had asked to move all season. I don’t see how this part can be missed.

People think about their own situations and how important family is to them so I get it.
It’s just that they’ve missed the point that Messi was making somehow.
It’s like saying I’m a vegetarian but I’m going to eat this bacon sandwich if it will show you how badly I want to leave.

I honestly think if we made a decent offer it would be rejected and we would end up looking stupid. This twat doesn’t care about the future of Barça he cares more about point scoring. if he acted in the business interests of Barça he would be negotiating for the best deal instead of threatening players with litigation. I don’t trust him at all and I hope we walk away.
