They did the same in the GE, lose it heavily, then continue doing it.
It's fanatical behaviour that brooks no opposition, that when confronted with that opposition, then doubles down on the insults and ridicule.
This then increases the shift to the side they're trying to remove, but, inevitably strengthens them. You only have to watch the likes of Coogan and Co. prior to
elections/referendums, the sneering, the name calling, the stupid people for thinking differently.
The stupidity is on one side, and it ain't the one that wins.

There is no real shift to the right politically in this country. Majority are socially conservative and always will be whilst being economically on the left.

They have just had a belly full of being preached to by a minority who scream insults their way when they don't do as they are told.

Its a big fat two fingered salute and will continue whilst certain behaviours are displayed im afraid.

In the meantime the main parties will scramble around and get back to that centre ground position that is and always will be in the UK, electable by the majority.

The extremes on both sides can do one!

If it was left to ’social conservatives’ we would still be hanging innocent people, discriminating against gays, women and minorities.

The reason why the position of gays, women and minorities is vastly improved is because a ’minority’ pushed for change. There will always be a minority that push for change, or push against oppression, often at a personal cost.

The majority of us just accept the benefits of yesterday's ’minority’ while sneering at the ’minority’ today who push for future change.

Kowalski is on full on virtue signalling mode this morning I see.

The majority in the past voted in the governments that made the necessary changes to protect the minorities.

The majority Bob!

Gay rights, women's rights, anti discrimination laws, all approved by a majority.
There is a reason for this, and it's because that majority agreed that these things needed implementing, changes that don't chime with the majority don't.We didn't want CND, a minority still push for it, but won't get it.
All very simple really.

Firstly no Govt is elected by the majority, secondly changes were made that went against the wishes of the ’majority’. You think abolishing the death penalty was a majority held position? Or legalising buggery?

Activism led to these changes. That and representative MP’s acknowledging the moral case that was being made despite what the majority of the country believed at the time. The fight to legalise homosexuality was a long one with a lot of MP’s wary of supporting it because it was not a popular position to take and they were concerned about voter backlash.

This notion you have that the UK electorate naturally grants freedoms and fights injustices is a fantasy. Every step, every scrap of progress had to be fought for by a determined ’minority’ and often in the face of opposition from the ’majority’ of public opinion and definitely those who describe themselves as ’social conservatives’.

Absolute bollocks. The majority opposed gay rights. In the 1980’s we passed Section 28 because of fears ’gays were indoctrination our children’. A majority still believed homosexuality was wrong some twenty years after it was legalised.

Change happens because a minority of people fight for it.

And a majority of the UK electorate will never vote to go back or change any of the protections now afforded to us all.

Back to his religious views on homosexuality and same sex marriage and women.

Would you call him out if he was a devout Muslim holding these same views?

Its a simple enough question Bob?

Thread is now very cleverly if not unsurprisingly being steered in a certain direction.

No days off for some on here, no opportunity missed.

Change happens when the government of the day implements it.
Those governments don't get voted in by minorities.

Of course I fucking would. Why the fucking fuck do you think the country being represented by a colossal dick is a good idea?

Jeez. It‘s like no one uses their fucking brain anymore.

Geoff Northcroft pitches himself as a right-wing working class comedian

He’s been on the Mash Report(awful program) on BBC2 and did a program which his hosted about how the middle-class caused Brexit(something like that)

He seems a conflicted individual as to what right-wing actually is as there is more too it than not liking avocado and supporting Brexit

He’s not very funny but I don’t think many on screen comedians are these days, all too safe and a bit wet

Kevin Bridges is brilliant but I don’t think BBC appearance fees stretch to him.....

If Northcroft and Lee Hurst are the best examples of ‘right wing’ comedy then maybe it is better left off TV altogether

Thanks, that was easy enough in the end.

Did you miss the bit of my first post in which i said i don't share his views and the bit where i said i don't support his appointment or are you too busy getting yourself all worked up?

That said i don't make it my business telling people what religious or personal views they can or can not hold either and i certainly don't think his views are going to affect his work as a trade advisor.

Fuck knows what is going on here but i'm posting in the wrong thread, threads are going left, right, up and down and nothing stays on fucking topic any longer anyway.

Thats the fucking point. Personal. Keep your outdated views to yourself and get on with the job. Make them public and they ain’t personal anymore.

Abbott knows fuck all about trade, or how it works. He was appointed to a largely meaningless board to get some good headlines and to appeal to a domestic socially conservative base who share his views.

And yet half the people on here, including yourself, end up defending him because you don’t like the people criticising the appointment. You are now at the stage where you measure the worth of an appointment on who doesn’t like it. ‘Oh look, Gandalf is against it, ho ho, must be right then.’ So a gay man is offended and the right response is ‘well he can fuck off, I’m now on team Abbott’?

The man who is being offensive is in the right over the man being offended? Do we all punch downwards now? Is that the side you want to be on?

Yeah but you're not criticising him him on his ability to do the job Bob, you are harping on about his views.

Its not me that wants something here, its you. You want him removing because of his views and you dont care if they are due to his religion or not, you just want what you want.

In your world, he has no right to his religion or his views and its you that will decide if he gets a job.

Thought police!

What the fuck's happened here then? This thread is about left-wing comedy. Everyone's suddenly banging on about Abbot.

World has gone fucking mad the last few days.

I blame Messi and apologies for my part in posting in the wrong threads.
