Otto getting old was hindsight? LOL

Laporte and Kompany were the trusted CB that took us to the title and FA CUP.

Don't forget that, that's not hindsight, that is fact.

Ota was still a decent squad player and we didn't know Laporte wouldn't of gotten a lengthy injury.

WTF?

If the players are not available now, why will they suddenly become available in January?

The weakness in our squad have been there for all to see for 18 months, there are players out there who would upgrade us, let's hope the Tixki does not let his mate down like he did last summer.
Always dramatic ,nobody has let anybody down

He was decent, but he was strugling for pace, age had caught up with him, the club clearly were happy for him to leave and indeed he seemed happy to leave.

I am sure he even moved out of his house in preparation, the move did not materialize or we wanted too much, especially with the contract he was on.

With the service he gave us, a free would have been appropriate, as it would now.

The foreign squad place is too valuable to waste on a player who will hardly feature.

The club is not above critisism.

Twice we have failed to improve the squad after winning the title, once under Mancini and once under Pep.

It cost us dear on both occasions.

For what it's worth , the same seems to be happening down the East Lancs, the Dippers have not added and I think it will cost them dear, well let's hope it will!

He has done some amazing signings and deals, he has also made some serious errors in his time with us.

That’s what happens at all clubs. Our high profile ensures any mistakes are media highlighted. However, although some bad decisions (in hindsight) many many great ones

As long as he gets far more right than wrong good, but as said , some decisions have been strange.

Not always sure about the quality of our scouting, especially looking for defenders, very hit and miss.

Does seem strange our transfer moves seem to be reactive rather than pro-active

Most fans thought we were light at CB and left back last summer and it came back to haunt us in a big way.

looks like we’ll address that this summer 12 months later

Think this year we’d all agree we look lightweight in CM with Gundo and Rodri and Jesus isn’t clinical enough

If we falter this year it will probably be the above and we’ll be looking to rectify this next year

Surely Pep and Txiki see this maybe it’s a matter of not being able to move people on

We won back to back titles etc ,vinny left at no notice ,we don't buy on the hoof ,nobody could see Eric being out for the season and we expected John to step up but he didn't, football is not played on paper as they say, thank God we passed on slabhead,i am beginning to think we chase certain players to get the rags to over stretch ha

We were never going to keep up the energy for a third season,we started off looking like we could but every var decision sucked the life out of them, you could see them thinking what is the point sometimes

Individual mistakes isn't something you can plan for,the best players mess up sometimes, all in all a mixture of things,be realistic, three high pressure intense years with pep was never going to happen, hopefully we have got our mojo back and var won't fuck us over as much ,ha of course it will !

Vincent Kompany did not leave with no notice, the guy's body was broken, it had been for several seasons, he was on borrowed time, that's was obvious.

Please stop the VAR crap, defeat to Norwich, Spurs, Southampton and twice to Wolves was not VAR.

It was poor tactics, selection, recruitment , errors or any combination you want.

I totally agree about the energy and most important of all mental strength that fourmidable season took out of all the players and staff.

Hence why is was so important to get some fresh, hungry players in last summer to refresh and go again. That's what you have to do when you win, even more so with a manager whose demands are enormous.

I doubt they did think they had enough but they’re not going to jump at anything like some clubs & it has proved a winning formula apart from last season when we only won 2 pieces of silverware & only cane second in the league
We make some mistakes, like everybody else In the world, but we don’t throw money at anything that moves. We strike a balance between sound financial management and stocking up with player resources.

There was more than a fair chance we were covered at CB for a season even though some called it the other way. Well tough titty; some bets you lose against the odds.

Same could happen this year if, say Kun or Eddie were absent long term but you just can’t legislate for every eventuality.

I may be wrong but I don't think Liverpool spent big last summer either and pissed it.

They got away with it, unlikely they will twice. Still think , like his Dortmund team hit a wall , so will liverpool. Plus think teams will sit deeper against them this season like atletico and Arsenal. Not sure they have anything different to change it.

We can't take the chance they won't get away with it, and they may not need to change anything. We need a couple of key replacements and much better performances from a number of squad players. A good start to the season will be key to winning the title I feel.

Nothing to suggest we are taking a chance,we've already improved the squad and will improve more.

Exactly, Klopp’s liverpool team seems to be following the same path as his Dortmund team.

I think Klopp knows his teams have a certain shelf life, imo this is why he has indicated several times his stay at liverpool will not be contract after contract, can see him leaving after one, maybe two more at most seasons and returning to Germany.

You can't spent 200 million every summer and still retain all the players who have some sellable value. Us looking for center backs every summer shouldn't be needed. It's poor recruitment. How do you fit in 20 internationals ? Rotation, yes but then you have the likes of Bernardo, Cancelo, Stones who struggle to get proper game time. You cannot just buy 4 60 mill players to freshen up the team.
