Aren’t the current reports that it did not entirely take place in the room they were meant to stay?
 
Is this a seperate thread from qthe Greenwood one? Or did someone change the thread title? Is Greenwood no longer involved? I'm confused

Ah not read that mate, i thought it was in their hotel room where they were staying with England. I'm gutted for him, how buzzing he was to be picked and then play. Must have brought him back down to Earth fairly rapidly all this.

If that last par is true it makes it worse. There's a difference between a stupid snap decision, say to go and visit someone you have seen in another part of the hotel, and a pre-meditated event. They could be banned for a while by the FA over this. I don't understand why some fans still think this whole episode is just a joke. This could well damage City's season (as it did with Stones) Pep, who lost his mum to Covid, will be appalled.

That’s why the FA should’ve booked an entire hotel to ensure a complete 100% bio secure hotel. Again I refer to the cricket, all England games have been played in a complete bubble, hotels at OT & The Rose bowl where both kept empty to ensure this, you take away the risk factors, that’s what a professional outfit would do! I’m in no way attempting to excuse the players & the poor choices they have made but the FA should’ve done better, Phil will take his licks and more than likely come out of this worse off than Greenwood & the FA

I am, as well.

But, even if Greenwood was driving him to do this (and we obviously don’t know if that is true; could have easily been the opposite or a completely mutual decision), he wasn’t being forced to do it and could have put his foot down and said they weren’t going to be doing anything of the sort.

As I said to @grim up north before, my disappointment comes with being involved in the confirmed breach, full stop. The other tawdry details are of less interest to me.
