Did he not win the one under Pellers? Fucking senility (me, not Ota)2 PL medals

Do we need to be smarter about this sale? If we sort his departure before getting another centre back sorted, does it make our negotiation position even worse? Anyone we buy from could dig their heals in knowing we need to fill the hole. I mean, they are anyway but could make things worse
You definitely have a point. If we shipped off Stones and Otamendi before going for Koulibaly, ADL would demand 100m euros.
I think the reason nothing happend with our players leaving is because we’re firstly focusing at securing Koulibaly, then taking care of any departures.
1 good season out of 5. We need to get his wages off the books and release foreign spot.
I agree but its finding any interested clubs who can afford Ota. Worst option (for some) is we keep Stones, Garcia and Ota
So what options we could have here, give him away for free so Porto can afford to give him a higher signing fee/salary and less to City as a transfer fee.
I wish sometimes selling players were easy and straightforward but seemingly we hit a block 90% of time to move players out to clubs they cannot even pay 50% of what we pay as salary.
This same thing pushing fee down for Stones or previously Dzeko, Kolarov etc.
Otamendi is Portugal league still would be a serious CB for Porto imo for 2 years, being a regular for league and CL too. And if Porto is protecting their back 4 properly, and not playing high line, Otamendi imo still a very good defender in a set up like that.
Porto could be getting him in the end for 5m euros which is a pisstake but what other choice we have if we want to move him on?
And if 6 months later we would go back for him for some reason they would want to charge us 20-25m.

Free transfer given what he is owed in salary, so he can get bigger signing on fee. Won't get a fee.
He was showing signs of decline in 2018/19 season yet we did not sell last summer. We are poor at selling players at the right time and just tend to keep them for season or two too long.
The answer is playing out in front of us: it’s the wages. How Liverpool were then able to charge Zenit for Dejan Lovren at 12m euros? (Who is much worse than Otamendi or Stones)
And that with taking into account his contract was about to expire in 2021 summer.
Even Smalling is quoted around 15-20m pounds and he is like 4 years older than Stones and is a worse defender imo, yet we are struggling to get a higher fee for Stones in the end probably.
Everyone seems to be able to sell much better than we do.The answer is playing out in front of us: it’s the wages.
More generally though I have to agree Liverpool seems to be able to sell much better than we do.
