Why doesn't pep put Stones in midfield, ditch Gundogan and pair Laporte Ake and Otamendi as 3 centre backs with the 2 full backs to make it a strong unit of 5?
Stones could add additional cover in the midfield role dropping back to help out whilst developing a new role for himself.
This could be a better idea than outlaying 80 million on a 29 year old?

I can name a few, he’s not that great imo if we pay anything above 60m Napoli have had a laugh out of us. Age being a massive factor.Would Koulibaly be the biggest signing we've made since Aguero?
The only competition would probably be KDB but he had only had 1 or 2 top seasons behind him when we signed him whereas Koulibaly has been recognised as one of the elite CBs in the world for many years now

We could maybe get away with Laporte and Ake but your can't get to the business end of the season and play two central defenders every single game. We need 3/4 top quality defenders to put up back at the top.
