No worries bud; to be absolutely clear we've followed guidance to the letter, and beyond. If staff have become symptomatic they haven't set foot in school and have arranged to be tested and haven't come back unless got neg result AND symptom free for 48hrs (and not living with anyone positive). Where staff have been in contact with positive case (we've now had two staff positives, including 1st teacher yesterday - thankfully she seems to be on mend after being "floored" by it) they've isolated until result (we had six negative results yesterday and today).
This now feels very different - I had never previously directly known anyone who had caught it. We're an average sized primary in Manchester; 3rd week in school, 2 staff positive. Rest of staff now quite nervy, especially those who are more vulnerable or live with those more vulnerable. I was contacted by the Manchester Infection Hub today, I'm in pretty much daily contact with them. A local high school now has nine hundred pupils isolating. Nine HUNDRED.
Teacher friend of mine works in Saddleworth - 18 staff off due to their own children being sent home.
In my own son's class, there are 12 children off (out of class of 31) but, thankfully, no positive cases. Yet.
We won't have to worry about everyone following the new (old) advice of working from home where you can, cos every fucker will be at home anyway looking after their kids.
Sounds grim mate, and glad to hear the rules are being followed so carefully.

Your post highlights how difficult it is in schools, even though many are probably just suffering the normal colds we all get.

Stay safe and keep up the good work.

Really interesting to see if not spiking in London at the same pace as up here. It would suggest the more people have had it the slower the second spike? Manchester won’t be a million behind. London at between 10 and 15 percent having had it? I have come across a few people I know having had it in recent weeks. Anecdotal again but ambulances galore today on the way home.
I wonder if the cost of commuting to / socialising after work in London means more folk there are working from home still? Boris was keen to get everyone back so his mates that own office space didn't go bankrupt. However, most London office based firms will have now realised it makes more sense to buy everyone a 200 quid laptop and fuck the office off.

Said it before and I'll repeat it. She's the one continually asking for a 4 nation approach, which is falling on deaf Tory ears. It's blindly obvious who's choosing to do their own thing. Criticise her choices as you see fit, but levelling the 'doing it do be different' argument in her direction is absolutely absurd.
To be fair she was the one that broke ranks continually leaking COBRA discussions ahead of the meetings.

I am always torn by suicide too. Some say its a cowards way out - I can see that - not able to face up to issues and ducking out not caring about the people you leave behind. However I also see that there is some merit in in being the bravest way out - all of us would give anything to stay alive, I watched my mum die I know how she fought for life - there is no way I am brave enough to consider suicide
Winds me up when people say it is the cowards way out, a person with rational thoughts dont want to kill themselves, tbe overiding thing time and time again is that they convince themselves that the family and friends would be better off without them, without going into detail, i stood on the edge of beachy head when my marriage broke down , talked down thankfully by a man whose wife went over, so i understand only too well it is not about being a coward

Some suggestion it's as high as 17%, it was terrible in certain parts of London in April.

The hospital closest to where I work, had to stop taking patients at the end of March, it was actually overwhelmed by numbers, close to Wembley, where many of us were on March 1st, and remember that the shopping centre next to Wembley was packed with people that day.

Most CFO's are scouring leases for up coming lease breaks as we type. James O'B had a message from an office manager being made redundant because the office he manages is closing - just one office saves his employers £18k pm - the firm I am currently working for moved offices 18 months ago - for 6 months everyone is working from home - doubt anyone will go back

So the Irish border will be somewhere east of Preston then and not in the Irish Sea?
No because NI had specific rules of engagement. If we do get the army manning vehicle check points in Preston they will probably have slightly less power than a showsec bod on a matchday or at a concert. Certainly unarmed I'd have thought.

All of the smart London firms probably realised why the f are we paying £20,000 a month for an office space for 10 people when we can achieve the same with them working from home for free.

Definitely unarmed and may I say calling the Army in will logistically make things better, no company in the UK can match them.
