I obviously hope that in the event of a SCOTUS review of an election results/certification challenge by the Trump regime Roberts would force any justice appointed over the next month to recuse themselves.

And @FogBlueInSanFran may very well be correct in that SCOTUS will also generally swing against Trump expectations to maintain at least the perception of judicial independence (and, as Joyce Alene said, the rule of law), anyway.

I am just nowhere near ‘confident’ all of that will happen.

I am *trying* to be more optimistic, though. :-)

Yes, that and *many* other reasons I have outlined before make me very nervous about Election Day and the weeks after.

But my anxiety about the situations in the US, UK, Spain, and the world-at-large has honestly gotten to a point that I think I need to find some optimism somewhere, otherwise I’ll have a breakdown.

I can’t imagine what it is like for Americans that will be most impacted by a Trump second term (by hook or crook).
