It's not even our press which is the fundamental problem, even if the intensity of it isn't what is once was.

The problem is now the press from the other teams.

They have stopped doing it to us, allowing our backline to retain the ball and not create a spare man.

Rodgers admitted as much. Save their energy for the breakdown and hit hard and fast.

Stands to reason, our defence have been allowed to come out fifty yards from goal.

The fundamental reason also why Ederson is never in the game now, apart from picking the ball out of the net.

Our system won't change, but that's the nub of it.

Same with any decent big-hitting boxer, just be wary of their best shot and stay in the fight.
Then we have to be “boring” first 30 mins get ahead and then if we have to pass the ball between the back 4 for the next 60 mins so be it, if we had done that to Leicester we wouldn’t be talking about this now, we would be moaning about a boring game but a win. Arsenal did it in the FA Cup semi final and others have done it, the only team that comes at us is Liverpool and then we can play around them. If other teams don’t want to play like Rodri said then fuck them, let them sit 25 yards from their own net and do nothing.

Don’t know how reliable he is, but a couple ITKs + Sam Lee is hinting at a LB

Would be great, but most likely just a last week of window totally speculative guess. Nothing to lose with a claim like that, plenty (clicks) to gain.

Yep when teams used to sit off us under Mancini and Pellegrini we had peak Nasri, Silva and Toure who could hold it all day then break down a camped defence

Now we are void of ideas push it wide and cross it or hope for De Bruyne magic.

The tactics and players at the minute look like we should be set up 20 yards further back looking for space to break in to, rather than camped out in the opposition final third, all very strange

Is the club working on getting Zinchenko sold?

According to Sam Lee there are few offers on the table for Zinchenko. I think it's pretty obvious we need to move him on though and have no intention of playing him in his best position, therefore I doubt any of the offers represent the kind of fee we'd have hoped for.

Even Dipperpool don't come at us they let us have it then punt it

LB (Mendy) is a disaster alright but if we have 2 incoming I'd hope that they are 2 attacking players. And that Pep has a plan for up front. Our attack is worse than our defense imo.
Don't go off one game when we had no Bernardo, AGuero or Jesus. If Leicester parked the bus vs Liverpool and Liverpool were without Salah and Mane they'd struggle.

The last two seasons show that City do not have a problem scoring goals but have started to concede goals. It coincides with the retirement of Kompany and Fernandinho. It's as simple as that. Yes you can find other weaknesses in the side too but if you want to know why City can't defend now the answer is that Kompany and Fernandinho were not replaced.

Or maybe we just have replaced Kompany....let's see.

We also have 3 very good young players coming through in key positions: Harwood Bellis, Doyle and Foden. And resurrect bernardo. He can run all day and dribble all day. Perfect offensive player because unlike Mahrez he can defend too.

Yeah I agree. However, our tactics on Sunday was a back 4 and 2 holding midfielders which on paper should have been enough to control Leicester. We are clearly over committing. Look at the first of their goal, mendy (I think it was) went past Fern far too easy. Fern was just a few yards outside their pb. That was all it took to get Vardy 121 on Walker. Even when we were defending in numbers look at how easily Maddison got his shot away. I'm not clear why but we lack defensive organisation collectively and individually. That has to be down to coaching. We know what Vardy is about, he has done it enough times against us.

If they're not pressing us and we're ahead, we should sit back and play out the game.

The whole positional game plan is about manipulating the opposition, and we don't do that if we move up to where they are camped out. With Leicester playing 11 behind the ball and Vardy in MC, we should just play on our own box until they come for it. Make them move and come out - especially if we are 1:0 up.

I also thought Foden played far too high whilst he was on. We lacked his energy on Sunday. Three games in short order unsurprisingly too much.

Exactly why we shouldn't be so stubborn and play some of these clubs at their own game

I think we should try playing further back(worth a go - we've got the best players to counter). I've got this vision though of the opposition keeping two lines in the same spot and sending a headless chicken out

A club like Southampton would probably keep their lines back still(We'de end up playing long shots :). Worth a try though, it's not as if we haven't got the players to do it. Knocking it around the box is what these fuckers want us to do. We'd need a Dzeko for that shite considering we end up playing aimless crosses to no one(Delap?) I hope he's not running out of ideas when you see Walker taking potshots..

I honestly don't see THB or Tommy Doyle making it with us, I've seen nothing in them for me to think they're for the future.

Hope I'm wrong.
