You're making a post for 'soundbite'.

To make the point of my post more laboured for you to understand "Literally no one on this board has said #45 cares about the planet".

Does that help...? Shall I make it a bigger font??

Aw, good.
Stop digging.

I. Did. Not. Read. Your. Post.

I posted in response to Damocles.

You’ve now made a tit of yourself and also said “literally nobody has said that” about something that was literally said on the previous page by someone that wasn’t you.

It’s not about you.

Firstly, I retract my post as although Dam did write it I didn't connect it to something he was serious about.

I think you will find that @Damocles has made that very point in the last two pages.

Yes, I saw that just before I clocked your post.

Damocles has you stupid person

And fook off, I missed it.

Would this be the better thread to comment on the debates Tues night?

Trump will go with sound bites and bullshit and Biden will do his best Foghorn Leghorn impression. I’d like Biden to get a petulant tantrum bite out of the parasite.
What time our time is it @mat , i fancy watching some of that , the serious man v the man child

As a politician of 40 years if you make no gaffes in political debate, which should be standard against a politician with 4 years experience, you shouldn't be trying that hard with the amount of knowledge you have.

"Shouldn't be trying" should be a mediocre baseline for this to start with and by result would be a 'perfect night' against a novice.

You make me 'drill down' on my meaning...? Okay.
Nope, read my post. You stated the opposite of what @cjn quoted you as saying. I merely pointed that out. I know fully, as you know I know, where you are coming from. As I said semantics. It's ok not to be absolutely right on absolutely everything. Deep breaths. Just a bit of levity.

I get what you both mean, but he ain't a politician, he's not even a 'businessman'. He's a charlatan with nothing to lose. You cannot measure the debate in the same metric, therefore it's Biden's to lose by that standard hence why I mentioned earlier in the thread that #45 would not play the game in terms of politics as we know it.

You both are looking at this as a true political fight. Clinton got sucked into the same mistake as you guys are doing.

I maintain my original post.

Trump wins pretty much every debate - it what put him in the White House. It doesn't matter though because undecided voters aren't going to swing on who "wins" a debate, they'll swing on the narratives that each are putting forward. The liberal narrative is stronger as it has been pretty much a 4 year onslaught so it will turn on that. These might actually be the least important debates in my lifetime in terms of election result.

Although Pelosi's idea of Biden not debating Trump "for the good of democracy" has been my favourite thing of this current election season and worth the price of admission alone.
No it isnt. Debates are not what put him in the White House at all. The reason that all of his first campaign team are in prison is what put him in the White House

Still wrong my friend. My post was in total isolation. As I have said before I have been educated and illuminated by your viewpoint but you did say Biden had to have a perfect debate then said no more than mediocre. My post was nothing whatsover with any broader issues. Move on, you have more worthy battles to fight. :-)

Trump lost ground in the polls after the 2016 debates, he won in spite of them.

Happy to.

I'm not sure by what metric 'perfect' means 'spectacular' when 'mediocre, with no mistakes' would fit that metric also. He should be able to do this, hands down with his experience.

So he doesn't need all the bells and whistles to do this as I've constantly explained, but yes we shall move on.

100% agree.

All politicians care about people and the planet. Including Trump, Biden, Obama, etc.

The biggest lie in politics is that all politicians are power hungry despots who don't give a shit about anybody but themselves. It's just a way for people to sway others to their side.

In reality the difference between most politicians is that their idea of how to go about helping the people and the planet are radically different. Don't confuse the two.
Trump isn’t a politician. That’s the ticket he got in on in 2016. Supposedly his business acumen was what was going to change America.

He’s living off the taxpayer in America. Has tried to turn the presidency intro his private fund by the looks of things.

He is not a politician. He is a vile human being. Whatever Biden is or isn’t, his biggest asset in the run up is that he is not Trump. He can be diplomatic. He can empathise with people.
Trump is a sociopath. Maybe not the first to hold that office. I really don’t know, but I can’t think of anyone less presidential.

Yeah yeah orange man bad. It's all so fucking tedious.
He is bad. He’s appalling. Whataboutism , doesn’t change that.
I think the American system is so fucked up I really don’t see who could or would Change it.
Good luck to Biden if he does get in as there will be huge expectations that things will change.
If he has the will, that would be a start, but as some have said already the two parties are two cheeks of the one arse.

Protection of your laws and institutions and democratic process is a must.

2am in the UK.

BBC and Sky will show it live.

Cheers for that.
Which US channel is it on? Just wondered in terms of who would be moderating it.
Last time was it 3 tv debates, one with a panel of journalists and the other 2 with a single host??

I fear you are correct.
Can he get away with the same tactics as last time having been in office for the last 4 years nearly and having presided over the Covid mismanagement.

You would imagine Biden should be ready for it but can he live with that kind of bullying.

Cheers for that.

Chris Wallace, single host as far as I am aware. I believe he did Clinton Trump in 2016. Sorry that I can't help with US channels but I would imagine it shouldn't be difficult to find.

I'm not sure I catch the Trumpist argument that Biden is such an old feeble unfit man that he can no longer function but at the same time he's fit enough to listen in to an earpiece or memorize the questions and all his answers in advance.

I would have thought having someone in your ear rattling of things all night would make it harder to perform well. We'll see...

Cheers for that.
