I understand that entirely. I do.

If there were no threads on American politics where British people can eulogise over a flawed system/ party or politician, I wouldn't offer anything... But that's not the case and this thread/ these threads exist.

If the Americans wants to preach love for their system and candidates on a UK site, we have the right of our opinion of what we see, positive and negative or they can do one.

Otherwise do away with these threads.

You're being disingenuous, the net is a cacophony of noise with topics and threads on everything and nothing and this place is no different. Of course you and I have a right to express an opinion, and those opinions hold up to scrutiny or not, but we're not Americans, that matters, but clearly I'm not making my point as well as I should.

I suspect you don't know much about Nigeria, most Brits don't, we should, as we ran the place for over 100 years and it is said that the country's borders, that still exist today, were sketched out on the back of a napkin by Lord Lugard in his London club in 1900. I spent nearly three years of my life in the early 80s travelling the length and breadth of the country, I know quite a bit about the place, even today, though its been 20 years since I visited. There are many tribes but the big three are the Hausa the Igbo and the Yoruba. I know about their history, their cuisine, their culture, their fabulous music, I had a Nigerian girlfriend for a while. But as much as I know, the place is still a mystery, because I'm not Nigerian, I don't know what it is to be Nigerian, how Nigerians feel about their country.

This is not about what they want, most people are the same in that regard, they want peace, food on the table, a roof over their heads, freedom from sickness, to raise their kids as best they can and dignity in old age, they're universal wants.

What I'm talking about is a state of being, to be an American, to be a Brit, to be a Nigerian, regardless of all this global village crap, who we are, what we believe, even how we think, is wrapped up in our nationality, our ethnicity, our culture, our sense of oneness with our people.

Problem with America is, while everyone might accept that to understand Nigeria one really needs to be Nigerian, the same is never said of America. It seems that every man and his dog feels free to prognosticate all day long about the land of the free and the brave, and that's because we all feel we know it, from our holidays, from TV and movies, increasingly from the internet, but this is an illusion, we don't.

I genuinely believe this, that's why I step back from time to time, I suspect you do not believe this, and that's why you don't.

The only thing on here that people are laughing at is you.

What difference would it make if the Green party got 0.2% or 2% of the vote. PS have you seen Trumps environmental record?

Fucking hell, you just don't see how entrenched in the game you are, do you?!

Well, there are idiots that believe #45 is "suppressing the vote" and then believe the Dems are not!! Honestly, what's the difference...??

HAHAHA!!!

The hypocrisy is AMAZING on here, at times!!

You need to understand my mother's Nigerian, Yoruba, from the Oguta village. She told me everything about the war, how I lost my uncle and what the British did.

Ooops.

However, I will forgive a point you never had a clue about, but you should ask what knowledge I have rather than assume...

So, I will embellish some; Nigerians are sick of the corruption EVERYWHERE and just want a Gov that will treat them, fair, as a people. They're also sick of big corporations getting all the money that should go to help fix the cities.

There's no ooops! What you've done is confirm my point. You have an intimate knowledge about Nigeria, not just more so than me but different from me, and that gives you an insight that I could never have.

How would you feel if I were to start lecturing you on Nigeria? There would come a point where you might very well tell me to f**k off, and you'd be right to do so. And why would you be right? because you have something I don't have, a very real tangible connection to the country, that transcends more than just the accumulation of facts and figures, and trumps (no pun intended) the recollections of a young white bloke wandering about Nigeria on a company payroll.

Might I suggest you remember that when you're tempted to do the same with Americans.

PS: We'll have to wander down to the National Portrait gallery and smash this up....

I liked your last sentences!

My overall arching point, as it is with ALL political topics on Govs, is neoliberalism, corporatism and its lobbying of politicians and how it affects people of working class.

I DESPISE IT!

As you see I don't go into specifics about cities, counties or wherever as my knowledge is not keen in that way, but it's keen enough to see the overview of continuing problems that exist worldwide.

I don't think there's too much difference politically between you and I, but I'm 63 and retired now. I've not moved to the right in my dotage but I lack the fire you seem to have.

In my youth I was president of my students union and I was active (sort of) in the Labour Party for many years. I say this not to play the older wiser head, I wish I had the drive I once had, but truth is you do get worn down by the sheer f**king stupidity of it all after a while.

I try to structure my posts with a beginning, middle and an end, but this post will not be one of them. The Americans will make their choice, it might be heavily skewed in favour of the rich and powerful, it always is, but Trump is so dangerous, that dreams of a revolution need to be put on hold, and if it's a choice between a sane old rich white guy and a mad old rich white guy, I know what choice I'd make.

Is walking around allowed? If Trump tries what he tried on Clinton what's the Biden response? "Get away you creep, I'm not a woman" Or "Weve given up being touchy-feely. Get away you creep."
I'm not sure "creep" is a line Biden wants to be using. As it has potential for friendly fire.

Trump was very hostile in the Clinton debates. And Im no conspiracy theorist as everyone knows but it isnt a theory to say he was more than likely coked up during them. Cant think of any other reason for the continual sniffing and pacing all through them. His only option is to go very personal and very nasty tonight. Not statesman like but he has never has been and never will be.
