35 posts in 5 years.
It doesn't matter though babes, people are free to do what they want on here. Like real life though, they should be prepared to be picked up on things that are deemed a bit suspicious.
We've done an awful lot in 5 years that wasn't worthy of a post or two, yet us being nowhere near Liverpool and going to shit?
Yep, that gets the fingers working.
I only post every now again due to the fact I have a glass half empty nature and you get vilified on here for that. Look at a post I put on around 4/5 years ago about being we was getting Guardiola and a few other things. Was accused of being a WUM for no other reason than I had hardly any posts. Like I said in my earlier post I hope I'm wrong with my negative prediction, I'd take great pleasure in eating humble pie if Fernandinho is throwing that PL trophy into the air next spring.

You mean like I did with you, and realised you joined the same day we signed Joleon Lescott from Everton, which begs the question, which Big Dave Watson you're referring to ? ;-)
Sorry mate but you have lost me there? What has my joining date got to do with it?

Zinchenko isn't half as bad as some people make out. He's not the best but he can do a job in this squad - if he's staying its best we all get behind him and hope he has a good season.

Agreed, but he shouldn’t play at St Mary’s ever again.

So Khaldoons statement that others were coming in has turned into other !!

Does anyone else feel like we are being held back now from making big Marquee signings due to the chairman publicly highlighting that we don't hold the transfer records for players like other English clubs ?

Sometimes it works to make that major signing and maybe have to break a record like the Dippers did for Van Dyke than to buy 2 players cheaper but in the end cost more in transfer fees and wages when merged together and then replace them within 2 years. Just my thoughts and opinion but would like to hear how others feel about this.

Could be a factor, but I think in general no team can make as many transfers in such short time. We have addressed our issues, it can take time, and football moves too quick. Even if we didn't get Koulibaly, we still got Ruben Dias. Our signings now are based on the profile we need, but you could argue some of the recent ones including Rodri and Mahrez have not quite lived up to expectations as we would have hoped. It's always a gamble, neither of those came in cheaper, I think Mahrez was clearly the best option available on market at the time we got him, given experience and the fact that he's from within the league (which the dippers prefer as they think it is the smarter choice when making transfers). I don't think we want to be known like PSG or anyone else in making big name signings only, because we have a manager who can help us become better and build an identity, even if this transition is rough.

If our business is done, then

1) We still have a decent chance of winning the league provided Laporte / Dias stay fit throughout and Dias Adjust quickly. Ake and cancelo enough to cover Mendy at lb.

2) may reach final UCL at max (ofcourse Hope i am wrong) . Our mid field has a 35 year old who is our Best option and Gundogan who will be playing a lot of games. Ideally should have Got his long term replacement Aouor who is just 40m Euros!

3) big summer again needed next year...with aguero/ LB / gundo long term replacement

What about Fernandinho replacement ?

It would have been others if Messi had come off, and maybe we don't see an alternative available at the moment , or if Zinchenko had agreed to go there may have been a left back. Nothing is certain in this window more than any other window. Nothing is certain, with lots of competing factors, fans returning has been put back and our finances will be hit just like everyone else.

Scouser - absolutely nailed on.

I really don’t understand why Zinchenko would stay. In our squad he’s a leftback, and right now he’s behind Mendy, Ake, and probably Cancelo as well.

No chances for him to play in midfield.

Staying at City to be a 4th choice leftback? Mind boggling decision. It’s not like he’s on crazy wages either so a move would be simple enough.

With everyone fit Zinchenko is anyway going to be in the stands the majority of the time, so bringing in another leftback won’t really effect him imo.

If wants to progress his career it’s time to move on.

Not sure what his position is in terms of rank for the left back position Mendy is far more inconsistent and weaker defensively Was default first choice left back when Mendy was injured I would use Cancelo and Mendy there but Cancelo there seems to be a after thought People are saying Ake will also be ahead of him but he plays left back less than Zinchenko and we have no idea if we will play him there to me it sounds like a ploy to get him in by convincing him he will get game time even when Laporte is fit

When I look at our squad I see a very talented group of players good enough to atleast win the league. What it needs is Pep to coach the fuck out of them. That is something we need to change. Teams have figured our way of play and I believe this team is capable of evolving in its technique which obviously means Pep needs to do some technical maneuvering. Is he capable of that - definitely yes and so is the team.
But is he motivated enough - I am still apprehensive about that and that is something that concerns me

If we’re done then on we go. I can sort of understand the reluctance to spend big on replacing Silva as we may have enough in midfield. Hopefully Rodri, Gundogan and Fernandinho supplemented by Bernardo and Doyle will be enough in midfield. I can understand not replacing Aguero while he’s still here but I can’t understand why we won’t address left back. We’re going into our 4th season with a single injury prone specialist left back. Makes no sense to me.

Perhaps club see 1 or 2 academy boys coming through and stepping up

Think Palmer and Doyle for different reasons will be considered for that DM/CM position.

A good way of looking at replacing Fernandinho is this - were Ferna on the market now would Pep sign him?

IMO the answer is no because Rodri is the proto-Guardiola 6. There are players across Europe (some even in the PL) who are more like Ferna but we never went near them.

Solid window imho if it stays like this 3 key players brought in the youth lads looking good as well with the likes of Delap/palmer/bellis Foden making massive strides key players coming back from injury.

All ways fascinates me this section of the forum with so many flappers :)

Damn. Semedo and Nouri would be starting full backs for a lot of top clubs.
