Personally I'm not disappointed in the signings we've made, nor do I think that winning the league/CL was predicated on signing players. We have an incredible squad of players already, and frankly swapping Otamendi for Ake and Dias is huge. Torres will end up a better and more consistent player than Sane too.

That's not to say we don't have weaknesses, but then so does every other side in the league. Even the Scousers who seem to be properly en vogue on this forum judging by how many people have given up all hope of being better than them over the course of the season.
I don't think people would be anywhere near as pessimistic about the season if it was a Premier League season pre 2017/18.

The problem we have is that to win the league the past 3 seasons you pretty much need 100 points. This team still looks a long way off a 100 point team, especially having already lost a home game to a non-top 4 side.

At no point over the past 3 years have Liverpool looked anywhere near as good a team as their points haul suggests, but ultimately, they get the points.

We can sit here and say they are fucked if they get key injuries or that they have looked poor and will drop points.. but ultimately, their players don't get injured and they always pick up 3 points despite looking shit.

I already see a lot of Fernandinho in Douglas Luiz, the aggression, being able to impact box to box and being a bastard when needed (also having quite a good long shot in him).

Yes,i'm a big fan.He has everything in the locker except experience....that's my worry, will he get that here?

We'll see - but he really seems to have the legs and the positional intelligence. As his quality and physicality improve I can really see him doing it. Would much rather we gave him a chance before we bring Luiz back.

His wife directly attacked Pep. City fan? I am sure she was a fan before she met Zin maybe she went to York away as well. He issued a statement because he fucked up by speaking out of turn and airing private discussions that should have stayed in the locker room. No wonder Pep wanted him sold. My personal thoughts have no basis for your rebuke.
"His wife directly attacked Pep. City fan?" " Attacked" is too strong and criticising Pep does not disqualify anyone from being a City fan nor does not going to York, if it did this forum would be down a lot of numbers. You make statements as if they were facts not just your opinion. So facts, did he tell you why he issued the statement and did Pep tell you he wanted him sold or where is the link to Pep saying he wants him sold. The term "got his wife to" is outdated, you wrote it, I commented on the phrase, I don't know your personal thoughts only what you wrote.

I don't think you're giving anywhere near enough credit to our players or manager.

I'll repeat some facts. Dias is better than Otamendi and younger and is considered a leader and an organiser. Ake is a better player than NOBODY, which is what we had last season. Torres is a better player than NOBODY which is what we had last season. Ergo our squad is MUCH stronger than last season regardless of the current Scouse wankfest.

People can be as pessimistic as they like, but so far all those "opinions" have stunk of people just marding it up that the transfer list they had put together wasn't put into action.

An excellent point. Some posters want replacements for Kompany, Merlin, Sergio, Fernandinho etc. who are already as good as those players were when they were at their peak. If they were out there they would hardly be available or if available would probably cost £ 70 million + each.

To be honest that's exactly what I wish we would do.

I’d love tommy to get the gig this season, but I doubt pep will play him much bar league cup and the odd few minutes. IF we could find a good loan Leeds or somewhere and he really impressed, perhap then we might sell gundogan and tommy would have a great chance then. I really hope we don’t screw things up with Doyle. His ability alongside his heritage would be the greatest boost to the academy possible.

If Doyle is moved on before being given a PROPER chance someone at the club has failed.

I'm with you on that,i'd far sooner a Blue bleeding HG in our engine room, but i suspect that decision,if Luiz continues to show the form he has been, and Pep sticks around....has already been made.

The decision to give Gundogan a new contract, and not sell, was not a wise one IMO - it will only hamper academy progress, and in particular the likes of Doyle. On the plus,he has just been nailed down to a 5 year contract,so we obviously rate him very highly and,as long as the kid is on board,we can be flexible with his development.

You are definitely one of the best posters on this forum. Lots of sense.

An island of sense in a sea of spunk.

Well they got it right with Foden did they not despite every other fan and most of the media insisting that he should leave to get game time. Doyle is more physically developed than Foden at the same age and I wouldn't be surprised to see him play a lot more than most are expecting, especially given how crazy this season will be.

I dont think Pep cares really about his CDM breaking up play with interceptions and tackles. I think Pep only cares if the CDM can pass / break the lines and start attacks and also keep composure on the ball when pressed thats why we bought Rodri hes the fernandinho replacement.

I hope you are right, really do. A second Doyle representing city alongside Foden and hopefully a couple of other academy players would make me enjoy watching city even more.
