Just don’t see this as a 90 point season for anyone. Lots of teams have strengthened.

think it will be closer but unless we improve i do think its the scousers again unfortunately - id rather chelsea won it and they could be a threat but it may take time for them to click. Everton may push a few teams this season

Ive noted the similarities between Barry and Rodri before - however the difference here is not the players (though there are some differences - Barry was even more complete in the dark arts of winning free kicks for instance) - the difference is the team they are playing in

Barry had 4 very good defenders behind him whose main purpose was to defend -with Rodri he has two fullbacks flying forward all the time - leaving space behind them - one of them cant defend either (Barry had Zabba, Clichy and even Sagna (I think) who were all competent defenders not to mention Kompany, Lescott (who was a very basic defender but he could defend)

Our style of play is a lot more exposed than it was under Mancini -thats not a criticism of either styles as both had success and produced great football (peps football is much more attractive to watch but Mancini's was pretty good to)

Thats why Rodri is more exposed - teams also play differently against us now...when we won the title with Mancini, teams would try and play against us - now the vast majority sit back and just hit us with pace on the break - thats why the liverpools, utd and Wolves (last season) all did us over...leicester this season already - some teams have the players to exploit us (Mane, Salah, Vardy Rashford, Greenwood, and most of Wolves front line as well) - the lieks of Burnley dont

This maybe why Pep has started with Both Rodri and Ferna in his games so far - it fell apart when ferna was taken off vs Leicester (but in the interst of fairness Wolves could/should have scored 2-3 against us as well)

now with Dias this might change - he is front foot defender...he will try and stop those counters before they happen - ths will at times lead to mistakes, yellow cards (Maybe even red) but this may also push the back line further forward and compress that huge gapping gap between our midfield two and back line - the only issue is the bal over the top and into the channels behind our fullbacks...with walker thats not such an issue (though its not perfect) but on our left hand side mendy gets caught in two minds all the time and gets exposed...he then also doesnt get back quick enough when we lose possession - this is why teams target our left side..they know its easy to expose him

If we are in for a elft back (though we may not get one) Pep et al. have clearly lost a bit of faith in mendy.
We are probably in for a left back as Mendy cannot possibly play every game

We are probably in for a left back as Mendy cannot possibly play every game

Yeah by the sounds of it we are but there is a question whether it will get done or not due to time and possibly Zinchenko (thats what the MUEN are saying at least) - though ive seen others on here saying it isnt dependant upon Zinchenko

Get a left back in and id be more confident.
Just a shame and bad luck with what has happened to Jesus and Kun at the same time

Never said it was true - as i just said i was taking the piss (not joke - thats different altogether) about your posting style - thats just fact - your posting style is always the same - short blunt statements with no explanation or substance.....

You try to come across as if you know and you dont - you just make a 50-50 statement - you know nothing and just because some of them come true doesnt mean you know anything - you just have a 50-50 chance of being right.

You are correct though - you do make it easy.

As for upset - far from it - more like laughing at you as most of the forum does
There there. Stop the sobbing, I understand your frustration.

A fortnights isolation means he misses just this weekends match , miss the internationals and come back fresh as a daisy

yeah soeone else just mentioned that - forgot about the international break - god i hate this break - it invariably causes us issues every season with injuries

I know the people say I came here to win the Champions League. I did not come here to win the Champions League, honestly," he said.

"I came here to play with my team the way we are playing in the last 20 months. To play the way we want to play.

"Of course I want to win the Champions League...

The Champions League is a knockout competition and they're always a lottery. Look at the Liverpool team that beat Milan... and the number of upsets there are every year. Anything can happen in a knock out competition.

The true mark of a great team is to do it consistently over a full season. Which Pep's City have done back to back, breaking all sorts of records along the way, playing a style of football that coaches up and down the country try to replicate.

If anyone tries to insinuate Pep's time at City is somehow a failure if we don't win the Champs League during his time with us, they're either on the wind up or they're not very bright. He's one of the greatest managers of all time and he's at our club, I wouldn't swap him for anyone.

A rag at work referred to the league cup as ‘City’s cup’ the other day. If you’d have told me 20 years ago we’d win the league cup every year I’d have locked you up.

We really can't win can we?! We win the league Cup and get accused of being the only team to take it seriously, as if other clubs not taking it seriously is a good thing! But you can bet next time we get knocked out of the competition everyone will take the piss and call it a failure.

I remember someone saying 'enjoy each trophy win one as if it's the last' and that always struck with me. Like you say, at one time we'd never have expected to have so much success in any competition! If people want to try and undermine that fuck them. They all wish it was their teams winning it and if they say they wouldn't want their team to win a cup because its not prestigious enough, that's says more about them than it does us.

Spurs will be desperate to win it I would think.

What's with everybody's obsession with Usain Bolt being our DM now? I'm just going to copy and paste what I posted in the Rodri thread since it's relevant:

Ahh so it appears we have annointed a new scapegoat ahead of this season and it’s Rodri now.

Anybody clamoring for Dinho just happened to forgot that any good pressing team will just turn our team to mush. Remember against Liverpool when the team couldn’t even get past the halfway line before turning the ball over? Fun times.

We need a more press-resistant DM and Rodri is one of the best in the business. Yes we miss Dinho’s dynamism in the PL, but in Europe we’re resting our hope on Rodri if we ever want to go far. All the teams in Europe don’t sit back and will take us on and press us.

I think Pep’s take on this is that it’s much more likely for Rodri to become more Dinho-like by improving his positioning and anticipation, rather than having a more dynamic player like Dinho and hoping him to become more press resistant like Rodri.

Rodri is not a complete player yet but this is his 2nd season, and he’s still 24 years old. At 24 years old Fernandinho was in his 2nd season in the Ukrainian league. If we’re waiting for Rodri to become a complete player before we buy him, I’m sorry to say but 100M won’t be enough to buy him.

If Pep wanted someone like Dinho he would’ve just bought Partey from Atletico that had a cheaper release clause than Rodri. But the fact is we’re veering away from that direction in terms of the type of DM that we want in our team.
Great post but would we need a press resistant DM when the opposition are camped on their own penalty box ?

Well, having hacked our systems, I wouldn’t put it past the Dippers to have interfered with the drinking water.
Hell! I bet the chefs at the club haven’t even been vetted, dig deep and I’m sure there’ll be dippers on the family tree.
Easy just check the bins in the Kitchen.

The similarities with Barry is nailed on. Instead of listing his faults, we need to replace gundo with a fern like player. A young athletic combative cm is who we should be targeting. The pairing of a ball player and a destroyer has led to our success. Why not repeat what works for us?

One of them has to go and due to age it has to be gundo.

In one swift move we would stop the counter attack being so effective against us.

Now since we have decided not to purchase such a player I would play either foden or Kev beside rodders and push Bernie into a more advanced role. That way we eliminate a few problems for now.

That’s what I did on Fifa anyway lol :)
