It’s not really double standards when this incident was outside of England duty whereas the greenwood and Foden incident was on England duty.

Not that Reece James isn’t deserving of a call up but why has he called him up seemingly in response to sterling pulling out? That 4th natural right back will really prove useful now that one of England’s main attacking threats has withdrawn...

It's all part of Southgate's plan. He's very savvy and tries to relate to the young players. When he doesn't have his contract renewed after the next lacklustre tournament, where we are found out against better European nations, he can walk into a half decent club job on the emphasis that he gives youth a chance. Poor man's Pochettino.

Several more debuts this time around, in the form of DCL, Barnes, James etc. Watkins next international break if he keeps the good form up. I think Southgate would consider anyone with a Premier League appearance who had a half-English grandmother. It's all part of his long-term plan and looks good on his CV.
 
I think Wales could surprise people on Thursday. We’re keeping clean sheets and have some great young players coming through.

England will raise their game but it’s no foregone conclusion either.

Williams, Rodon, Cabango, Brooks, James and Roberts certainly.

Bale is better than any England player right now. Ramsey top class too. Sadly both unavailable.

2. Who do they play for - regularly - not in the squad of,
3. Both of them, whilst good players in the past, have a very poor injury record. Bale is 31 and Ramsey 30 in December. In the circumstances, your comment cannot really be taken seriously, I'm afraid.

young great welsh players ?
No idea and don’t care.

England have a few class young lads.

bale better than any English lad is a fair shout I s’pose. Although Kane is on the same world class level - but different posistions.
 
My old man always told me to play for England if you are English and play for utd you get picked. If you play for City you have to be a good player. I find it odd that any City fan could give two f**k's about in England I mean Maguire plays for England that says it all how bad England are.
I watch England in the same way I watch utd ;) hoping for a laugh but just lately I find myself turning it of as the standard of England is piss poor.
I guess being a professional footballer you still want to play for your country no matter how bad they are.

I love the way you profusely apologise for being unable to take me seriously. It makes your argument very weak. But still, I'll bite and you'll pretend you can't understand.

Williams - Liverpool
Rodon - Swansea (although Spurs are in for him)
Cabango - Swansea
James - U****d
Roberts - Swansea

I'd fancy The Swans for promotion this season so they'll be Premier League if they keep great talent.

Bale and Ramsey are hugely important influential players on the pitch. One has won numerous pots with Real Madrid and the other is at Juventus. Still, mock that...

I'd rather watch Wales than City these days. VAR, television in general, the clear agenda against us, the club becoming too corporate. I've lost count of the amount of friends I know who've not renewed because of it. Huge Blues too.

I fully understand why you won't go to England though. I despite the nationalistic scum that attach themselves to their country. They cause trouble everywhere.

One of the lads at work does want to go but won't for one reason. His parents are Indian and he fears for his safety. That's heartbreaking.

I'm afraid you seem to have mistaken my term "I'm afraid" as a "profuse apology" rather than it's general usage as a polite term to emphasise that the comment, and not you personally, is not to be taken seriously. Please take the time to read that line again, and I'm sure you will agree that that is what I both typed and meant. I stand by that comment.
My next question asked for the list of "great young players": thank you for the information. Of the 2 PL players on your list, neither are first team regulars. in fact, if you think that James is a "great young player", then OGS isn't up to much as a manager! ;-) I note that the remainder of the list play for Swansea, but your comment is pure conjecture, and also with a caveat that the team remains the same. The old adage "if my auntie had balls......" would seem to apply there.
Finally, back to Messrs Bale and Ramsey. I cannot deny they are/were very good players, Bale more so.
As you pointed out earlier both are out injured, with Bale having not played for for several months, albeit for varying reasons. Ramsey has a career littered with injury, and played just 24 Serie A matches last season.
By definition, you cannot therefore use the present tense to describe their abilities, as they are not playing. Their achievements are , again, in the past. There is no denying that Bake WAS world class, but age and injury have caught up with him. Is he still world class? We cannot say until he has a consistent injury free run. If he plays as he once did, I will hold my hand up. Let us see at the end of the season. As for Ramsey, he's not fit to lace David Silva's boots!
