Well it was sky news footage at the start of the pandemic and there was an elderly guy who’d keeled over and died in front of them, now I know sky like to dramatise things so maybe it wasn’t Covid and was a heart attack or something but I just wondered if there had been reports of this happening elsewhere.
And no I don’t believe their figures.

Sure.

But don't kid yourself that Sweden has got any nearer to herd immunity than we have, nor that what Sweden have done gives us (or them) some easy way through this.

the only additional thing I would add would be protecting the vulnerable and supporting them.

I would also want a return to spectator sports slowly slowly

but most all NO LOCKDOWN . It doesn’t work . It might have an affect of delaying transmission but thats it.

I think it’s tough for the elderly and many are taking extra precautions. The first lock down was demanding and they can still teach the virus in their houses from carers etc.

My interpretation of herd immunity is that we let the virus run riot but it seems our views don’t differ as much as I thought.

It’s really important (IMHO)!for people to make the best of a tough situation, where they can. We see a lot of it with more peole taking up gardening and / or improving their homes (often creating more business for builders or DIY stores).

I hope the Government can target help at people who really need it. I’ve got the impression that a fair chunk of the business loans have gone on eg people buying new cars / vans they don’t really need but there was a lot of pressure on the Treasury to keep the economy moving.

You are completely missing the point mate.

you are saying the uk and Sweden are about the same on herd immunity.

our schools have been shut for months Sweden hasn’t
bars restaurants and normal life has all been the same in Sweden.

we have shut everything down ground to a halt , lockdowns . People not able to pay respects to dead relatives , marriages and christenings cancelled .

yet we are the same place you say in our fight against Covid. ??

Brazil and certain states of American have gone for this approach. Death toll has gone through the roof.

I actually think you and I are on the same page here.

I find it odd that we have local lockdowns in local areas and the rates are still rising in those areas, so the government is threatening wider national lockdowns ?

i don’t think lockdowns work . Although I have so little respect for this government that i am actually of the view that new cases are being taken away from London and added to the northern numbers as they want to keep the south and London open and lock down the north,.

this fellow blue has it spot on....

Out of the 250k tests or whatever the figure is at the moment is there a split between how many cases are being taken per area i.e. if we have 5,000 infections in the NW from 50k tests and London has 1000 infections from 10k tests then it would be quite telling

I'm beginning to think its because there is a virus, that was previously unknown to mankind that can prove deadly to those of a certain age and with existing health conditions. Its that end stage pneumonia that is killing folk like it has done since time began for us.

Its laughable how some on here think politicians can somehow save everyone from it.

Nature can be a real fucker and like all other species on the planet, we too are not immortal or immune from the worst it can sometimes throw at us.

Yes things have worked better when there has been national consistency eg the hands, face, space advice / rules.

The lockdown is frustrating but it has some benefits. I’ve seen loads of examples of neighbours helping each other out. I quite like being able to text for my 2 Guinnesses to be delivered to my table in the legion lol

Pointless putting it on here the pro-lockdown lot will not accept anything other than what they want to be believe. Will probably claim is not from a real doctor or something like that.

shows week by week breakdown at quite a granular level so you can track it really well on a very local level.

it seems to group each town/city but doesn't lable them as that town or city though.

Same here. I don't really understand it from a business point of view, even though we have the capability to work from home and the government have advised to do so, the office is full with no changes to how we were before covid i.e entire departments sat less than half a metre from the person next them, fuck knows how the business will cope when we inevitably have an outbreak.
