Just reading these proposed new restrictions they can fuck right off. Shutting everything in an area classed as red zones including gyms, non professional sport, shops and salons. I hope to god people stand up to this somehow. I've been compliant from day 1 but they can do one now as far as I'm concerned. Absolute pricks.
Are you now going to ignore the rules as a result?

Same here - I have obliged but they are just being daft now doing stuff for the sake of it.

Where my Mrs works in a Spar shop is under Redcar and Cleveland council. One side of them is a take away to the other side is a level crossing. Other side of that is another take away but that is in Middlesbrough Council area and as a result different rules apply.

So if Boro is a red zone and the takeaway gets shut ....hhmmmmm...wonder what the patrons will do....???
They’ve not got a bloody clue and like you say just doing things for the sake of it. Earlier in the year when the lockdown was happening in Rochdale one councillor came on and said that one street in the area was Rochdale council at one end and Oldham the other!!

Now Gyms are being shut in Liverpool so how are they expected to keep healthy now, go cycling or running in the middle of winter? That’s going to help with colds and flus isn’t it!

They could literally shut down everything for 6 months. The economy would be destroyed, millions of jobs lost, thousands more non covid deaths and at the end of it all the virus would still be around, when the few establishments that were left began to reopen we'd all start going out and getting reinfected again. Back to square one.

Given the fact that we're not guaranteed a successful vaccine at this point, just what on earth is the long term strategy exactly?!

I just expect to see a busy footpath across a level crossing in Nunthorpe and a happy take away owner on that side. Mrs not happy as SPAR have told them no mobile phones in the shop because they don't want staff getting told to self isolate because of the app going off. They anticipate a lot of people isolating and "just nipping out" for some beers to their shop. I did try to console her by saying with so much cross traffic its likely that people from "her" side of the level crossing will be the same level of risk.

Cases and deaths doubling every 7 days said the science. Every 17 days say the data, so might as well stick with pretending it’s 7, shut places down and frighten the life out of everybody....

The story is Liverpool will accept being in the third tier of infections. They are top at the moment so no argument there. Pubs, gyms, casinos and bookies to shut. To be reviewed every month. I think they're talking a calculated risk here. Accept the rules and try to control. That way it gives them a chance of getting some sort of reopening leading up to Christmas. Even partial will generate business. Leave it longer and no chance. My lad is at uni there right opposite Lime Street station. Joined the gym and gone out. Has looked for work opportunities but no chance. It's a calculated risk GM might have to make.

I won't be going round to my mums or dads and will not put any high risk people at risk by coming into contact with them, but otherwise I won't be following them like I have been doing. I'll wear a mask etc but if I want to go to my mates for some food im going round. They're making decisions based on fuck all so I'm making my own.

They aren’t but if saying that gives you the excuse you need to do what you want, off you go.

So how are they justifying shutting down gyms? Give us the evidence as there isn't any. There was no increase when they opened at all, in fact everything dropped further. It's bollocks and anyone that thinks what they are doing is right is clueless.

Top attitude, and no doubt you will be moaning again when further measures are needed because the latest didn't have the expected results.

Your first bit nails it. Protect the vulnerable and the rest crack on

Of course there’s evidence and data, they aren’t doing it for a laugh. You may not agree with their conclusions, I haven’t seen the analysis so don’t know.
We don’t always get rules we agree with. Pretending there is no evidence so you can do what you want, doesn’t change it.

What else can they do? If what the press is saying is true, pretty much everything has been taken away from us already. Based on what? Give me some justification based on actual facts and I'll listen and pay attention. Gyms have not even been mentioned at any point as place where it is spreading. What a shower of shit this really is. Local councils have shown their true colours as well, as soon as they get the extra money and power they want, then the people don't matter anymore.

I go in houses everyday at work, in general i find the older customers are the ones most careless, getting too near, not staying out the way as agreed. Also seen it in a restaurant last night. Older couple came in with no masks, half heartedly pulling there jacket up over there faces but leaning in and lowering it to talk to the waitress. Saw it again today in a cafe in whaley bridge Literally everyone else respected the rules.
The vulnerable really need To protect themselves, why wouldnt they?
The rest crack on and be careful

That's rubbish mate and I'm a labour voter. No doubt your political leaning is influencing your opinion but getting on public transport whilst knowing you have the virus is 10 X worse than the rest of what she did and also what Cummings did. No excuse and she could have killed someone.
I think what she did was worse than what Cummings did . I think the political response from their leaders was far worse in the other direction with Johnson trying to excuse Cummings and say there was nothing wrong whereas Sturgeon has immediatley heavily criticsed her , removethe whip and begun proceedings to chuck her out of the party.
