What would two weeks do? Absolutely sod all in my opinion a month or 6 weeks maybe, but 2 weeks would not really achieve anything, everyone would just tip out and it would flare again. Schools are going off for a week anyway so cases will drop naturally.
 
I had a go a few pages back on why the circuit breaker had to happen 3 weeks ago, It might need to be longer now than it would have been if implemented then when Boris was advised.

As I said then this was the day Boris lost my vote. I can forgive a mistake, I cannot forgive putting the nation at risk by making it twice.

This error was so bad it just cost him his job imo because he will not be winning NW seats next time round. So I cannot see him running unless he pulls off a miracle recovery.
 
I have been very critical of Johnson and the Tory part throughout this whole sorry saga, however I have to say that the speech by Starmer is very easy to make, Johnson is having to balance the economy as well which is a huge task, and Starmer doesnt have to shoulder this responsibility.

I still think Starmers propsal makes the most sense but i'm not getting carried away with it.

Remember it wasn’t his idea and there is no detail, I also think a circuit break wouldn’t be anywhere near sufficient without schools uni’s and compliance procedures.

He basically got a whiff of scientific disaffection with the govt and took the opportunity.

Indeed but in what settings are people catching it. Hospitality say it's not there, gyms say not there, schools are pretty much coping and students have caught it in their thousands but don't appear to be hospitalised or dying. Where are these people catching it? Something needs doing and quickly otherwise we will have a situation in this country as we did March / April with over 100k new infections and hundreds of deaths each day. And some people want to get back into grounds, utter madness...

21% of secondaries are reporting groups sent home because of covid 19.

Boris said in the presser that he is following the science ,he trotted that out in response to a difficult question he didnt want to answer , he clearly isnt as whitty and SAGE have told him what needs doing, rushi has put inplace the finances
 
Interesting to see Sky reporting today's cumulative death figures on the ONS basis - 57,690 where Covid mentioned as a reason on the death certicate, way above the Government's minimalist figure.

I agree completely, it is very opportunistic but hard to argue against.

It is very easy to score points at this stage with very little personal risk to him or the labour party.

I just hope he isn't seen as coming in on a white charger when all he is really doing is saying follow the scientific advise.
