Pep was brought in to win the CL and has never got them past the quarter finals.......rinse and repeat.
‘The champions league. The reason Guardiola was brought in of course’...

maybe I’ve missed it, but I don’t recall anyone from city saying Pep was brought in specifically to win the CL?

I listened to the game on GMR. I watched the highlights on BT. What the actual! Stark difference and in fact that BT show was designed to keep the lfc supporters watching. They were on first, then City's highlights were designed for them.

GMR totally different game.

I don't normally subscribe to the bias theory but never let the facts get in the way of a good story...

Chris Bevan BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54559793

His side made a sluggish start here too, but in the end he will have seen plenty to improve his mood - notably the end of Aguero's goal drought.

The prolific Argentina striker had gone 230 days without scoring before converting his penalty, the longest spell of his illustrious career.

EDIT it actually gets worse 'Sergio reaches 40 CL goals but he's no great shakes' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54624624

I’m sure they count a six month, global pandemic induced break for football in every strikers barren run dont they?

Makes you laugh (not) doesn’t it. BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport. ‘Own goal lives injury hit Liverpool win over Ajax’ whilst ‘Aguero’s 40th CL goal helps City beat Porto’. Arguably Scousers were only missing Alison and Van Dick from 1st choice 11. We were missing Laporte, Ake/Mendy, De Bruyne and Jesus. Wankers

We don’t dictate the media agenda. We are not seen as English institutes like the Mersey and Trafford Scum. The media has built their foundations on these cunts.

It won’t change unless there is a seismic change by our owners but the colour of their skin and ethnicity will always keep us out. We never had a chance in the PR war. It was over the moment the good Sheikh purchased city.

Edit made for soleofsalford:)

It's so annoying when you constantly hear this isn't it?

Guardiola was brought to City primarily to instill his philosophy at the club which he has done. The trophies are a consequence of the philosophy and he has won a fair few of them here. He won the first domestic treble in English football history, he won back to back Premier League titles (which hadn't been done in a decade and has only been achieved by two other managers) breaking virtually every English top flight record in the process including: points, goals, goal difference, wins, consecutive wins, gap to 2nd place etc., and then followed it up with an almost identical performance the following season. He brought a style of football and a level of consistency that this country has never seen before.

Of course the owners want to win the Champions League but they will be well aware that it's a cup competition where luck plays a huge part and it certainly isn't THE reason they hired Pep which is what these pundits have repeated ad nauseam and now everyone believes it's true.

SKY TICKER ..........."City only score ONE goal from open play AGAIN as they labour to beat loanee packed Porto who ain't what they used to be at the soulless Emptyhad" Brave brave injury-ravaged SIX time champions Liverpool overcome Ajax in the lion's den with a defence that cost less than one of Kyle Walkers Covid sex parties.

Our owner's need to tell the PR people at city who they employ to stand up for the club like we have over the years and come out on the front foot just read the thread about Maine road and the eighty's. Stand and be counted

The Champions League has proven a frustrating competition for Guardiola - sky sports

frustrating apart from the two times he won it ...
Without any look at the major incorrect decisions against us in the last 4 years in the QF stage. Sure in some we should have been better but Monaco 1st leg and Kun brought down by the keeper after 10 mins. Penalty and red card. Of course not given. Dippers year after, both legs pure corruption a Spanish ref in charge when at the time Pep was wearing his Catalan pin. And the coach attack. The goal by Sane disallowed for another wrong call on the stroke of half time was the killer. It was not even a close call.
The year after and the Spurs handball goal where no one had an angle of the clear handball until after the game and the tight offside call that I still have not seen proof of to disallow our winner in injury time.
Lyon, ok it was a shit show by us but we got back in it to 1-1 then despite a Var their 2nd goal, a clear foul, was allowed to stand.
no wonder we do not progress past the QF stage when we have this every year

BBC radio reported that Sergio had broken his 200 day plus scoring drought!! And apparently the victims were without first team 7 players.

I see that BBC "reporters" have chosen to ignore the below injuries at City and it's only Liverpool who have been impacted.

Laporte
Mendy
KDB
Jesus
Akem

They couldn't scrap that TV tax sooner enough. Media scum.

If you listened to the commentary on BT yould have thought that Porto were a magnificent team in full control and City were a disjointed mess barely hanging on. It's common place now but no less annoying.
To be fair, if you only read the match day thread you would have thought we had ten shit footballers and Kyle Walker.
