This is how far politics has fallen of late, Rayner gets more attention for a word in Parliament than Jenrick gets for blatant acts of corruption.
It indicates acting corruptly is fine, saying the wrong word is not. Parliament is antiquated, its procedures archaic and its usefulness as a democratic institution is i believe under threat. When a member has to apologise for a spoken word but another member can lie with impunity and not have to apologise there is something seriously wrong with our democracy. When Government front benchers can get away with dismissing questions, or answering a different question, or simply ignoring a question you have to question whether our democratic institutions are fit for purpose.
We have also seen the pillars of democracy challenged, the three pillars of the Executive, The Judiciary and The legislature get side lined by an overarching Executive becoming more powerful than the counter balances, sadly all cheered on from the side lines by a media controlled mainly by foreign interest is it any wonder at all that Opposition is a thankless task, or in Starmer's case an impossible task.
