I find this bizarre too and I can't believe anyone would believe otherwise.I love the hypocrisy of the Tories who support capitalism seeing kids as a burden rather than a future unit of production. If as a capitalist you want to make the most out of your employees surplus value then it is in your interest that the future units of production are well educated and well fed. Seeing the future units of production as anything other than well fed and well educated is totally counter productive to capitalism.. A capitalist should think that investing in decent food for every child will mean that the investment bares fruit in the long term as the unit of production makes them more money. Maybe its just me but its highly probable capitalists are just fucking thick.
Regardless of the parents, no kid should go hungry and every kid should be given the best chance in life through quality education. Whatever that costs it doesn't matter because it's both the right thing to do and it pays for itself.
I mean christ, look at this tweet
