The Conservative Party

All 69 points on this twitter story show what a corrupt, self serving, irresponsible and downright useless set of cunts we have running the country

But the last is just pathetic, spunking gov money to a mate who doesn't work in the winter anyway is dire.

I'll be fair and assume the money is for the educational charity work and not just a sub to the new opera house (it's not private, just not cheap).

Not in his list (yet) is more penny-pinching from the poor. Laptops given to poorer children so they could study at home.... but once they are back in school the Tories expect the school to take it back so it can go to another pupil who can't attend.

So they're sending out fewer laptops as stats say how many pupils are not in school at any one time - but taking no account of whether a particular school might have way more out of school than the average.

Nevill Holt Opera was the only country house opera to receive funding, allocated by Arts Council England up to now, Ross recently appointed his 17 yr old son as patron with access to their 650m fortune, other more in need venies could have had the cash as this particular one can fend for itself.

To say withou the money we cannot do our local work with children and the community, as they have when they have a patron to draw off in these tough times is bollocks.

As for the laptops, isn't this breaking news this morning (seen a lot of comments last few mins) pathetic from government as usual

I'm fully behind any free school lunch type programme and I have to say Marcus Rashford is right up there with Kompany as a Manchester legend because of the issues he is raising.

Anyone calling this wokeness is just astonishingly ignorant and out of touch to say the least. We are in a pandemic and at these times we must maintain our humanity and right now deficits, budgets and national debt are of total irrelevance.

There is a reason why the appeal of this government has dropped like a rock, initially it went okay with Sunak announcing he would "do whatever it takes" but they've seemingly thrown that away, unless of course it involves London or setbacks facing their favoured businesses.

I hate politics sometimes I really do, the idea that this is a Labour/Tory/Blue-on-Red issue is again just incredible because it shouldn't be. Anyone and everyone should be fully supportive of people getting the help they need because I've seen in this pandemic it can touch anyone.

I'd expect an imminent U-turn because once again the government is finding itself trying to continue an 'anti-woke' agenda on the most unwoke issue facing the country.
Chapeau, fabulous post

Funny how when it came to feeding kids, it's the responsibility of the parents but when a pal needs a bit of help despite wealth like that, they'll pull out all of the stops. Are there actually any genuine people in politics? I genuinely believe, particularly on the Tory side, that most go into it for the lifestyle knowing the expenses and salary and other opportunities it will bring.

And now they're ending the VAT "holiday" on PPE so the price of masks goes up 20% (going to help subsidise the opera).

For me, the fundamental issue is our pitifully anachronistic electoral system that allows the party which the majority of those that voted did not wish for, to do what the fuck it wants for five years. It may, on occasions, produce strong government, but that doesn’t mean it produces competent ones; far from it.

The problem is that when Labour were lording it iver the Tories they did fuck all about it - because our political culture is rooted in self-interest, as is human nature tbf.

We’ll keep getting shit, career politicians, shit governments, the downward spiral continues - but don’t worry because we don’t have unstable governments like Italy did 50 years ago.

Our electoral system is the principal constant that runs through our inexorable (if faltering) decline as a nation since WW2 and yet there seems an astonishing lack of will to even consider changing it, even among Labour voters whose party hasn’t won a majority for over 15 years.

Why is it right that a party that secures significantly less than half the votes can do what it wants for half a decade - and why can’t people see that this is the principal reason we are failing politically, and more generally, as a nation?

in the meantime, the Tories will continue to be cunts and fuck all will be done about it.

Superb post that nails it.

The problem is the balance is all fucking wrong for some people and the world we live in now makes it even more likely to happen with social media and the incessant desire to watch other people’s shit on TV. They’d have a 4K TV and PS5, smoke and drink before their kids appeared on the list of priorities.

They should never have had kids in the first place... yet we have no option as a civilised society to consider the kids because their pond life parents don’t give a fuck

You should remember that not everyone on welfare is a '' pond life parent'' . Sometimes life throws a curved ball at them. Universal Credit only takes into account the first two children any way ... no matter how many children they have.

I love the hypocrisy of the Tories who support capitalism seeing kids as a burden rather than a future unit of production. If as a capitalist you want to make the most out of your employees surplus value then it is in your interest that the future units of production are well educated and well fed. Seeing the future units of production as anything other than well fed and well educated is totally counter productive to capitalism.. A capitalist should think that investing in decent food for every child will mean that the investment bares fruit in the long term as the unit of production makes them more money. Maybe its just me but its highly probable capitalists are just fucking thick.

Tories aren't bothered anymore about 'units of production' as they can see that automation and AI will do most of the jobs in the future.

This is perhaps the crux of politics globally and not just here. There isn't a single country that isn't a victim of its own system but at least some others can place faith in the results.

Perhaps the real difference isn't the system, it's the d*ckheads and incompetents that the current system attracts. They are often failed journalists, business owners, lawyers or those who've never worked a day in their lives. Basically none of them are really overly qualified to run anything. The current head of our health system in the midst of a pandemic is an economist.

I don't have a problem with career politicians, or politicians who make a life out of politics because some do genuinely serve for years and do a very good job. The worst types are the ones who only fancy becoming an MP for themselves and to get to the next stage of becoming chairman of sweet FA for the rest of their lives.

Look at Chris Grayling, he pulls off years of failure in various ministerial positions and then gets 'promoted' out of politics into a job earning £100k a year working 7 hours a week advising some dodgy company on nothing.

Can someone tell me where I can buy a non-flat screen TV?

Also iPhones for the poor/homeless are a necessity as they need to bid for houses online

But let’s pretend all the kids of layabouts die of starvation - what do we do with the hungry kids of parents who are on 2/3rds income(at best) due to the pandemic?

You can only access Universal Credit via the Internet ...... you also have to evidence that you've spent time searching for a job. Hence why they have phones. In the States Obama sorted this by making low cost phones available to low income families.

Bloody Democratic Socialists eh ... what are they like?

Tory MPs are like red scousers apparently and always the victims of all those nasty haters.

One "benefit" of this will be that a lot of people who thought of themselves as self-reliant and might have applauded a Tory MP slagging off people on benefits may now be relying on benefits.

What I don't get is that the local Tory politicians I know are kind and compassionate people, but they just seem to be in the wrong party.

These cunts keep defending their cuntishness by proving they are cunts - people in their constituencies need to have a long hard think about the monster they elected

Should not even be up for debate. What the government have done, in all circumstances, is an absolute disgrace.

Cannot believe people are trying to argue this?

Yeah but you know some people started out dirt poor and have done well for themselves and don't see why anyone dirt poor now deserves any help.

And I have really had exchanges like that over this ! Unbelievable isn't it?
