Erling Haaland

How many times does his €75m release clause need to be posted before people stop writing fan fiction about him moving for 130 million?
Presumably he will be sold well before his release clause kicks in?

I expect him to leave Dortmund end of this season and as I understand his RC will become active 2021 only.

Dortmund might be stupid not to accept a 100-120m pound offer only to be forced to accept half that offer a year later. They know they will lose him, its just a matter of time.

Can see Real Madrid saving up the money this recent summer to go big on him next summer given Hazard flopped, Benzema going out soon.

And 120m is not a crazy price for him imo, he is guaranteed 25+ scorer wherever he goes on any top league as long as he is not injured a lot.

Txiki might be scared by Raiola as well unfortunately which can reduce our chances even further with him.

I don't think so. Haaland senior and Mino have planned this out pretty precisely. The buyout clause gives him the choice to go wherever he wants, because every top club can afford €75m and it guarantees them reportedly up to €30m personally.

Dortmund usually hold onto their starts a season longer than people think, and the Bundesliga and CL is a plenty big enough platform for him to keep improving and get famous until the clause kicks in, especially if he's in some sort of duel for top scorer with Lewandowski.

Also, unless the agents mount a successful legal challenge, Fifa's rule that agents can't get more than 6% of the transfer fee comes into effect in 2021. So they're not going to get paid a huge amount unless it's as part of this already existing contract.

This is the moment someone at City needs to show some balls.

I fully understand & back our transfer policy & I fully understand us not wanting to deal with his fat **** agent.

But we are in a fortunate position of no debt, in times where the biggest clubs are scared by their debts. I'm absolutely certain we could find a way of getting this player signed up, before others solve their problems & step in front of us. Which they will, sooner or later & then he will certainly be beyond our price range.

Signing loads of little kids for 5-10 mil here & there, who nobody notices when they do fuck all, is easy. No comeback.

We need somebody to stand up & say 'this is the guy we need' put their balls on the line & do it.

We will beat pretty much everybody with this guy leading our attack. Fuck 'Pepball requires a 5ft 8 striker' bollocks, fucking adapt it.

Totally agree with your sentiment but I can't see the club doing this deal, especially if Pep stays in charge.

But we have to change our attitude to transfers back to the level under Mancini/Cook era.

Identify the very best players and sign then, even if we have to pay premium prices and in doing so weaken our opponents considerably.

Our squad is considerably weaker than it has been for a long time , our recruitment has left a lot to be desired over the last 2/3 years, we have signed players inferior to the ones they have replaced.

We have found a gem in Dias, we have some really good academy kids to take up the slack in the squad.

We are only a few signings away from an almost perfect squad imo, but we need the front 3 to be world class or thereabouts.

It may already be over for Sergio, but if it isn't, it soon will be.

Just get this done as a one off & the other signings won't need to be anywhere near as expensive.

Concentrating on getting Haaland, who would be a revelation for us and spending less time fucking around on the remote possibility of getting Messi would be a good idea.

Agree

haaland looks excellent and scores all sorts of different goals.
If we have to change the way we attack to fit him in, great,
Would be helpful to have more direct ways of playing.

he looks similar to levandovski and he was able to play in a pep side

Added to his family connection,an opportunity to be the main striker, for the entirety of his peak years,at a club that can realise his every ambition.......i very much doubt we aren't in his thinking.
We have to go big no fucking about put the money on the table no trying to penny pinch Tixi needs to pull this off

We all know haalands agent is toxic and pep won’t deal with him but what happens come next season haaland has not come because pep won’t talk to the agent and then pep goes anyway and we have lost the player. It’s gonna take £100 mill plus to get this position sorted so either we pay that kind of money and make a massive statement or we penny pinch and get Wilfred bony in and become a team that gets top four and the league cup . This striker situation is so critical to get right that this could make or break us for years .

Eddie/steffan
Walker/cancelo
Dias/stones/thb
Laporte/ake
New lb/ mends
Rodri/doyle
Kdb/bernado/mcatee
Foden/new am/palmer aourer
Torres/new rw Marcus thuram
Sterling/braaf
Haaland/jesus/delap

That is a squad that can dominate for years. Beautiful balance and very young. Scattered with actual city fans. 4 signings away from near perfection. 1st team lb, rotation playmaking midfielder, 1st team lw or rw and haaland. 5 if you want a more mobile cdm like Douglas luiz/camavinga. Sell the excess mahrez, gundo & zinchenko let kun leave. With them 4 off the books it also takes a huge chunk off the wage books. If we struggle with ffp we could get depay/demuari grey for the winger for free, puig for rotation playmaker for free and alaba for lb for free. Not to mention messi, who if he came id be over the moon but if he didn't I wouldn't be over fussed.

IMO buying Haaland means that it will be our only high profile signing.
I would also prefer Camavinga over Aouar.

Camavinga is Real Madrid bound, Auoar is more realistic, next summer, Aouar and Haaland and im happy and depens who is getting sold.

Camavinga is Real Madrid bound...
Ramos is 34 and Benzema is almost 33.
Besides Ramos their CB are poor.
Their 2nd and 3rd strikers are Jovic and Vazquez...
They also need to replace Marcelo.

I am not so sure that they can afford to buy all this players and on top of that Camavinga.

Camavinga and aouar are 2 very different players. Ideally camavinga to rotate with rodri but we are struggling to control the tempo. Bernado or Phil are struggling to give us what we're missing now david has gone. If you sold mahrez, zinchenko and gundogan you could afford aouar & Douglas luiz though. Leaving haaland and a left back.
