COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Just to slightly correct you, it had caused mayhem in China, but they'd welded people into their apartment blocks by then, so it was slowing there.

It was just appearing in europe (mainly northern Italy), and our schools were on half term, and many were either skiing in the Alps, or on the beach in Spain, so those on holiday didn't know they were being infected. We then had Cheltenham, the Atletico Madrid game in Liverpool, and a certain cup final in what turned out 2 weeks later to be covid central, wembley, where 80,000+ mixed with the locals who were already infected but nobody knew the extent of it (one of the local hospitals became overwhelmed about 3 weeks later).

We should have acted earlier then, and we should have acted better, and earlier now, so we have caused our own problems to a degree, but it got in here big time without us realising, then we helped spread it round for too long. Not closing the borders was a mistake, but we are a major world hub for international trouble, so it was financial.

Had they got a decent test track and trace system, and more importantly made it work, and made the people +ve isolate, then we might not be in this new lockdown, though Germany suggests we still might have been, where they had it working, and are still in a mess.

societal behaviour is the biggest curb and unfortunately ours is in the toilet.

So joking apart, serious question here to our southern based posters,my mrs has just been reading some bile on Facebook to me and it appears a lot in the south are blaming the northerners for this, and I had a bit of a row with a guy I know from the south about it a week or so ago,so without wanting to cause rifts in here do you or would abstain from commenting ??

The supermarkets should start restricting multibuys now - I know some have been doing it since last lockdown but they should be on this asap to stop the shelves from being stripped bare again (although I understand why some people must have been scared witless in March when lockdown was announced as there was ZERO guidance or advice from the govermnent on stuff like this (probably couldn't care less as they'd block booked delivery slots with Ocado) - I know I was concerned that there would be no food available

Never heard anyone down here blame it on the north, most of my mates all supported Andy Burnham's stance the other week, and all think the tories are a bunch of cunts.
