Nail on the fucking head mate. I might drive up to the lakes, if allowed, and swim up there, nowhere near me now Sale is shut to swim.
I've emailed Sale to see if winter swimming will go ahead. Not heard back yet. Will let you know if I hear anything. Ta

why would they make the numbers up, or is it just another cock up, the latter more likley me thinks

I never suggested they made numbers up. I referred to the testing system and its repeated problems. The numbers are suspiciously low and that has happened before.

As I said if the data is real it is very good news.

Guess tomorrow will reveal if it actually is.

I am to much of a gentleman to say f..king idiot. My wife and I are in the 65+ bracket, those most at risk. Are you suggesting that we stay at home and isolate?? How long for? 1 month? 2 months. 6? Can’t see the grandkids?? Shopping? Going out for a meal? I will do it if you will. Can’t believe that some people keep trotting out this shite. It is not us that are passing it around.

I am actually not saying that, but I will throw back your question at you, how long are going to have to isolate collectively? two months? Six months? What are the ramifications of that socially, mentally and economically? I really don't see how anyone can take umbrage with the suggestion that fit and healthy people should carry on with their business, people should be able to run their businesses that support their families. This lockdown is farcical, kids can go to school and sit in a packed classroom, but then not see their friends after school, it makes no sense. I would prefer to see advisory measures, restrictions on capacities in social areas. We can't eliminate this virus and it's known it is deadly for a small % of the population. Regarding your grandkids, any government telling families they can't see their relatives is just utter horse5h!t if you ask me.

What about asthmatics of working age, diabetics, over weight, bame all of working age. Many of them working as carers looking after the sick or elderly. How do you protect them. What about those undergoing cancer treatments attending regular hospital / clinics .
There ‘s a reason what you suggest has been tried anywhere.
Sure others can add other
But my suggestions are a start. Id imagine just the 2 catagories i mentioned are a pretty high % of those that die/become very ill? Agree?

by the way, im no denier, in the past week ive had the following people close to me cop for it.
47 year old male. Bed ridden for 10 days. No underlying health issues. back on his feet and back doing a physical job.
46 year old male. Healthy. Bit of a cough. No energey. Back to a physical job.
53 yr old woman. Healthy. Not even ill. Back to work
52 yr old woman. Healthy. Bad chest and no energy. Ok now and back to work
In a school.
54 year old man. Has healthy issues. Utterly floored by it and 2 weeks and counting in bed.

so the worse is the 54 year old man with underlying health issues. Hes been off work for 2 years anyway. He really shouldnt have been in a pub anyway! Shouldve protected himself better

I thought I heard on the news that young kids are exempt from this, so you could take your kids and meet others
I’m not sure, haven’t seen that myself but school is so much more than that, for loads of kids school is their only source of food, friendship and pleasure. It’s not simply about education. But they’ve missed 6 months already, how much more. 4 weeks, then what, another 4?

Best to the swimmers and gym bunnies. It's a nightmare.

Cyclist myself so I'm lucky really. I've kept it going pretty much every day for the last 7 months, but it's a real struggle to drag my sorry carcass out now in this dark and weather.

And you never really replied but hey ho

So you answer isn’t protect the vulnerable, it’s protect some of the vulnerable. Who decides which vulnerable get protected and which vulnerable get sent to work mixing with the healthy people that are getting on as normal carrying it and spreading it, and risk catching it and dying.

Anybody else think that keeping schools/colleges/uni's open during the forthcoming lockdown is defeating the object of having a lockdown?
I drove home tonight through Rusholme, every bus stop had at least 20 at it some a lot more, no distancing and I failed to spot anyone wearing masks in the queues either, it looked like a match had just finished, it hadnt, they were all coming from colleges around there.
I know they have to wear masks on the buses but i mean come on whats the point in only a few people doing what had been advised when the rest clearly couldnt give a shit.
This sort of thing is happening everywhere and Im struggling to see how a lockdown lite for a month is going to make any difference at all.

It isn't, but there is no leadership, no logically implementations, and there will be another if not more full lockdowns. Then Boris and his crones can turn around and blame the public for it. In the same way they were encouraging everyone to ''eat out to help out'' then telling the naughty public off for engaging socially. I shudder to think what society will be like if this drags on for years. It is going to completely change us.

Found out today that my mum has contracted this virus. She's generally fit and of good health but apparently this has hit her hard. Troubles with breathing and a fever. Just hope those who still doubt about the severity take it seriously

I am old enough to just about remember Johnny Tapia box. Twenty years swimming, no shoulder issues?
No, none. I think my body has just got used to it. I generally do between 60 and 100 lengths a visit. Front crawl, 30 seconds a length so no more than 45-50 mins swimming time. It's not hugely difficult - like all things, the more you practise, the easier it gets. I tried various stroke/breathing combinations and found the one that suits me.
As for JT the boxer - love him, hence the name choice. Such a pure fighter; he had many demons but always seemed to find serenity once in the ring. His childhood was not one I think many of us would come through unscathed. He certainly didn't but he brought joy to thousands of boxing aficionados and, deep down, I think he was a good soul.

As you ignored earlier , i mentioned the 2 most vulnerable. You skipped that.
Yes can probably only protect so many, but, again, for your benefit..

over 70, doesnt work, underlying health issues. Stay in!
Any age but with a particular health issue that is dangerous to C18, doesnt work. Stay in!

and, again, those two sets of people make up a HIGH % of deaths and hospitalisations. So stay in, protect yourselves, and the NHS.

no?

yoga/Pilates can be done outside, as for swimming, its a bit cold but more than able to swim outside and I'm sure its a lot healthier than the skin, piss and chlorine soup people usually swim in
Then you have water bugs to consider...didn’t an Olympic rower die after contracting a waterborne virus?

I’m doing my best running in the dark and cold/rain. I actually picked up running a few years back after running in this weather. Grim initially but with a decent playlist and distance those endorphins & cannabinoids soon flood and help my well being.

The numbers of tests are tests not people , they stopped giving us number of people months ago
They still give us the full numbers in the weekly report published 3 days after the report date - though you have to do basic maths for the -ve tests per person.
