The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the military doesn't swear an oath to a president or king but to The Constitution.

But the point I was trying to make is I understand why people vote for Trump. i.e. to rebel against 'career politicians' who they've been constantly let down by (both democrats and republicans) and sick of the 'woke' culture (yes, I genuinely believe this is a legit reason people voted red) etc etc. Obama was very charismatic and promised a lot so he got a lot of people's hopes up (especially in the black community). However, I think a lot of people felt let down by Obama after his 8 years and felt they would take the gamble on Trump over Clinton. Biden has the charisma of an impacted wisdom tooth so people who have been in Trumps camp the last 4 years haven't been persuaded to switch sides.

To simply say 70 million people are dumb, racist etc is just shutting down the discussion into why people feel the way they feel. My "oh dear" was frustration because of this shutting down of discussion by just labelling the other side racists. White Supremacists are a very small percentage of people voting red, there are extremists on both sides.

Anyway, I'm off for a weekend piss-up at some wineries.

Re a coup. It's not a coup it's a grift. I've read that they have campaign debt and they're still trying to fund raise from their base for "lawsuits". The small print says that 60% of payments will go to outstanding campaign debt.

It's a tragic and age old story.
 
CISA the section of the Dept of Homeland Security that is in charge of monitoring this are now paying the price. The deputy head has been told to resign and the head is expecting to be fired this week. Ministry of Trump propaganda out in force again. They just sack anyone in the civil service who doesn't play the game. It is Idi Amin territory.

It just sums up the self-serving prick to a tee.
 
The worry for me is that the frivolous lawsuits and laughable 'evidence' is just a smokescreen for the more nefarious stuff going on behind the scenes. It would be typical of the Trump playbook, diverting from the real issues with scandal and bullshit.

Assume there is nothing he wouldn't do to remain in power. And when push comes to shove it doesn't seem like anyone with real power in the GOP is genuinely willing to rein him in.

I would imagine that the 'debts' that they want to clear are actually payments to themselves and their friends and enablers. No one is going to lend money to the Trump campaign given his track record of paying his suppliers. This is closer to reversing some of the donations - grifting money from small time donors to pay back the big ticket millionaires.
