Fauci didn't say masks and social distancing were here to stay. He just said he thinks its a good idea to carry on being cautious until we know how effective the vaccine is after its distributed. At no point did he imply they're here forever though.

It's a recommendation too. Of course he is going to err on the side of caution.

Think our customers like things such as customers putting their own lids on their takeaway cups, having hand sanitiser available, making sure tables wiped with anti viral spray after every us. They will probably become our new normal.

This is something a few have wanted to know more about.
I remember as a little toddler wanting my hands wiped immediately if they were dirty/had food or juice on. My boy is the same. Often referred to as OCD. I've grown out of that a fair bit (or at least conquered it somewhat) but still like a tidy, clean home (some don't....which of course can cause conflict).

Wondering how important this is for day to day health? Do we need to be more exposed to bugs and bacteria in order to fend them off or is that a myth?

I really can't see cultures stopping hand shaking or kissing on greeting. No other great pandemic stopped these from happening.

And there's nowt wrong with that. Not sure anyone is particularly arsed either. I think the idea that we'll all be wearing masks and stood two metres away from each other though, with no gigs, night clubs, football games etc for five years is just nonsense. Not saying you're saying that btw, just the general discourse in this thread.

If anyone gets the chance, have a listen back to last half hour or so of James O’Brien on LBC today. Some absolute nut jobs calling in about the vaccine. One chap reckons the vaccine will have a chip in it that will sync to 5g and then ‘they’ will be able to kill us.

I get you're worried mate and understandably so. This year has beaten a lot of us down, but you are very much viewing the world only through the nihilistic window. I've been there and done that too. There's a simple rule in life with these things that often tends to be true. Things are usually never as good as we want them to be, but at the same time they're rarely the worst case scenarios either. I think you're currently presuming the worst. I don't blame you, but I think you may have lost perspective a little. We've come through pandemics in the past a species and I see no reason why we won't do the same again. We've got some brilliant minds working on this. Have a little faith mate. I've been down that path too so I know where you're coming from x

Fucking hell, we're doomed. I hope you need a vaccination certificate to get in the Etihad so those still susceptible to the virus, or medically unable to be vaccinated, aren't infected by people like you.

Saw the weather forecast earlier and noticed the first presence of snow on there this year. It was up in the far north of Scotland but it made me think of another thing that covid is going to ruin for us this year. The childlike excitement of getting a snow day off work. You jump out of bed and open your curtains to be greeted by a whiteout and you get that momentary flutter of joy as you think 'ooh I'm not going to go in today, what a novelty I'm going to be able to stay at ho........... oh'

Remember that day years ago - about 2006? when its snowed like fuck and very few went in work. I was one of the idiots who did that - went to work. Came home and one of the ex wives had gone! Managed to clear everything out of the house in all that snow. Fair fucks to her - she must have really hated me. I would have waited for the snow to have melted.

It has been fully tested and doent need guinea pigs , it will have be passed safe to the usual standards

Paul from Sunderland believes that the microchip in the vaccine allows for syncing with 5G allowing Bill Gates to turn us all off. Those were amongst the more lucid callers. Just wow.

I know there are some very negative people on this forum, but I don't think they're doing it intentionally. It's worth remembering how badly some people have been hit by this mentally. It's very hard to see positives at the moment for some people and who can really blame them? It's been a grinding year. Just something to consider before we pile on people.

Don't know how people will change. I was always a germs are good for building immunity to bugs person, but think there is a lot more awareness now of the dangers of viruses,even more awareness of the dangers of flu, rather than just a few germs or the common colds. We'll see bu think our customers will have a new expectation from us and other shops.
I did hear somebvody on the radio complaining about Costa concessions in hospitals putting lids on for customers that included visitors, patients ,staff. Saying it's a practice that should never happen i hospitals Covid or no covid.
