I totally agree, I still watch the numbers, but as you say the only thing we can do is look after number 1, and that's how we are dealing with it. It's hard to advise our younger family though, some want to just get on with it, and I can't blame them, others want to arrange "christmas" which I generally don't care much about other than meeting close family, but we can't plan for that right now, other than staying at home doing f**k all, with anyone.
I've got a cousin who's got a really serious health issue (chemo cancelled several times), his sister has had it, and been pretty ill (in the middle of moving house too), elderly parents who are doing their best to avoid it.
We had a day out locally today (NT property), walked about 5 miles, weather ok, but pretty grey, but it was good to be "out", and not thinking about the pandemic, plenty of visitors where we went, but everyone looking out for themselves, and the roads pretty quiet apart from school times.
Trying to keep to having some life, but being very careful out and about.
