Got a pal in Texas sending Snapchats. Bars and pubs fully rammed- no masks, no social distancing. It’s as if nothings going on out there.

It's very strange how a lot of Americans just don't have any respect for the Virus, Trump fanned the flames but there are seemingly a lot of dumb people in Texas, crazy.

No it isn't.
Schools close and people take holiday so the main conduits for viral spread vanish.
Schools are currently responsible for 29% of Covid cases and work another 15%. These are the transmission routes for a large chunk of those catching it at home (20% overall) as well. So 50%+ of transmission will vanish in week 52.
Oh and anyone who is realy ill gets admitted to hospital and those figures drop a bit in week 52 as well
New year festivities mormally bring it all back with a bang but there you go.

Yet the ONS link I posted clearly states there is a Christmas reporting delay. Strange that.

Until you produce some links to back up your claims I’ll stick with the ONS and NHS.

They are reporting over 100,000 cases per day, like you say they are certainly different in their outlook over there.
At times for a country that wants to lead the world they are very insular in how they act. I have never been so this is just supposition on my part but I suspect that a lot of middle America thinks the world ends at their state line.

You may laugh(hard not to) but I have just bought a convertible after reading this rather genius advice of how to hand over a present from a socially safe distance. My current car didn’t have a sunroof so it had to go.

If anyone has any other ideas just in case it’s raining please let me and others on the forum know.

Tier 3 but we shud but tier2 really as the r rate is dropping i believe trafford is 0.6 and other areas slightly higher.

Following on from Americans in Texas not behaving with fingers in ears. I've just seen an article that protests are going on in Boudaux because they're not allowed mass Masses.....now I'm not religious but I was always told as God is everywhere & it didn't matter where you paid image.

Following news article from Serbia which has record cases...deputy head of the church died from Covid....funeral conduct by the head of church without social distancing who, yep caught & died of Covid.

What is wrong with people?

Theres a surprise the bbc hiding the 90% with two jabs in the detail. Anything for a negative headline. They are truly pathetic as a national broadcaster.

Sure they will work it out pretty quickly, but either way it’s still not a bad shout considering how much of this vaccine we can lay our hands on very quickly.

I think 70% is the average of the two regimens. A single full dose is 62%, I thought - that might be two full, it seems to being reported differently where some mention two full, and some don't.

62%, or 90% but half the people (and for unclear reasons as yet) - the limiting factor may be the needles, etc not the drug.

It's being reported at 70% because that's what Oxford/AstraZeneca have announced, and what Hancock said "overall effectivenss". They'll still be working on the data to understand it.
