Cheshire East for Andyhinch - 83 - up from 49. Total cases 8620. Pop score up 22 to 2244.
America is really being hit hard. They have had over 2 million new cases over the past fortnight. Putting our 18,000 in context. 170, 000 alone yesterday - Ten times the UK.
And 87,000 in hospital Over 5 times the number in the UK.
Deaths yesterday were 2157.
Of course, the Thanksgiving weekend is not going to help at all.
The UK has recorded another 696 COVID-related deaths and a further 18,213 cases - the highest daily total for fatalities since 5 MayNot seen anything today. Are cases down again?
Since my mother’s untimely death I have had a healthy/unhealthy disregard for some members of the medical profession. It's a difficult conundrum and one that many people will be only too familiar with, but there still has to be a modicum of care for ailments, accidents or illness. A chap off this thread got a result with the 111 service so the wife's just gone over to ring them up for her, as she's non too good with interaction. Hopefully she can seen by a doctor or at least upload photos for their kind appraisal and put her mind at rest. Two burns the full length of the straightening tongues and skin broken on both, the burn to the top of her arm is festering and yellow so unsure to the extent of damage.
I do hope your wife's thumbs settle down over time as they are something we cant really do without. The son in law was in an unfortunate altercation and was hit with an iron bar that smashed his thumb. Anyway, they sent him home and the doctor never cleaned it out, so it became badly swollen. So much so, that damage was caused to his surrounding tissue and he had to have an operation to fuse his thumb into place. At least this would enable him to have some dexterity if it was fixed at an angle as he would be able to grip. But no, they fused it at 90 degrees, so now it's as much use as a chocolate fireguard. He works on the steel and it's difficult to rig and he said it would be better if they had just amputated it as it gets in the way. They stood on with liability as they they never followed protocol for open wounds, so litigation issues are just down to just quantum and future loss of earnings. But yes, a finger or two everyone can do without, but your thumb or thumbs are an an integral part of everyday living. I do hope your missus is well and her thumbs recover.
As I said yesterday I was very sceptical, and thought the numbers were dodgy, no way were they down by nearly half in a week. Not seen anything today. Are cases down again?

So today up by over 2/3 on yesterday alone.
This is...er....concerning. How do we know if it works on the actual vulnerable people?

Mrs sf has had the issue for a couple of years and been told it’s not bad enough to warrant intervention.
Now the muscle around her hand has wasted away and will never be the same.
However, she is having it sorted out next Tuesday and hopefully the rot will stop.
See you soon for the pint I owe you!
people shouldn't blindly believe that all people in the medical profession mean well.
Quoting another American website.
After all they’ve done so well at curbing Coronavirus we should all take heed.
I’ve worked in the Public Sector for over thirty years so always try to accommodate how they react.I'm a little more brusque and direct when I need something looked at now, people shouldn't blindly believe that all people in the medical profession mean well.
I once went for a blood test and my doctor asked to see my penis. Gets more weird everytime I think of that day.
He also once wrote me a prescription for an over the counter item and on another instance, wrote me a prescription for happy tabs when I specifically asked for a referral to talking therapies. 50 euros per appointment. Fuck you, Brian.

Bit, imho, the NHS is broken and doesn’t serve the needs of the people who pay for it. I don’t blame the nurses and doctors, I blame the system and the managers.
Looks like London will be in Tier 2, of course.Andy Burnham says he expects GM to be in tier 3 when announced.
London most cases today - North West third most.Looks like London will be in Tier 2, of course.
