Come here to look at Covid news.

Summary:

we're neck deep in shit. Shit levels are falling a little bit, but there's the distinct possibility of a tsunami of shit after Christmas. Very likely shit will continue to flood us through spring, more pungent than ever. Good news is the shit will be flushed by next summer, except the fuckers in charge are now arguing about whether it's a British bog or not. Oh, and some other really annoying fuckers saying they won't flush their shit as they think flushing the shit away is worse than being neck deep in shit forever more and who knows how dangerous a fucking toilet is anyway.

Happy to help.

Cases for the three nations 2886 - not such good news as this is rather high.

3 wks v 2 wks v last wk v today:- 2761 v 2407 v 2525 v 2886 today.

With tragic Irony the Welsh were not that long ago arguing for a travel ban to stop GM people going over the border and now there is a better case for the opposite to happen.
Most local authorities in North Wales (except Wrexham) still have a lower case rate that most of the GM authorities, in some cases significantly so. Wrexham is currently roughly on par with the worst affected areas of GM.

The case rate in North Wales falls the further west you travel. Mid Wales is also pretty low.

The real problems are in the former South Wales coalfields, but there aren't many reasons for tourists to go to those places, unless they are into industrial archaeology.

Hospital data is up for two days to today:

England Patients 12, 333 down to 11, 985 back up to 12, 071 today - so a fall over the 2 days. Was 12, 845 last Friday.

Ventilators - same pattern - 1149 down to 1094 but back up today to 1113 - again fall over the 2 days, Was 1242 last Friday.

The not so great news is that the North West the only region NOT to have fewer cases across those 2 days.

But the details tell a different story.

London patients 1493 to 1517 to 1487 today (last Friday 1516) Ventilators 256 to 256 to 249 (last Friday 267)

Midlands patients 2812 to 2598 to 2712 today (last Friday 2955) Ventilators 262 to 244 to 258 (last Friday 304)

NE/Yorks patients 2618 to 2441 to 2493 today (last Friday 2831) Ventilators 186 to 167 to 175 (last Friday 207)

NW patients actually moved from 2304 to 2360 and then back down today to 2304 again. Last Friday was 2485.

And ventilators 186 down to 178 and back up today to 181. Last Friday was 203.

The real news there is the Midlands today after a huge fall in patients going up by 114 today and adding 14 on ventilators.

NW has stopped falling day to day but did go down today by 56 - the most of the four regions - two of which went up.

Though Yorkshire now has fewer on ventilators than the NW for the first time in a week or so both are down weel to week.

Apparently they made a mistake on case numbers a week ago (what never!) and 1283 cases were involved. This might have had something to do with the increase today as some clever clogs on Twitter said the number today would be higher a few days ago when this data came into effect. Not sure how or why.

Something to do with tests wrongly reported. I give up trying to understand these data cock ups these days.

But if so perhaps this rise is a one off and we MIGHT be vack lower tomorrow.

Or not.

Cases are slowly creeping up again - but if the R Number calculation is correct that is due to us finding more cases.
Also, the care homes seem to report more deaths on a Friday I think so it’s probably not quite as grim as it looks. Hopefully, the arrival of the winter weather won’t undo recent progress.

No bollox - one if the early paragraphs:
"When we were part of the EU, the EMA had areas of jurisdiction that meant only it could make decisions about certain types of medicine, including vaccines. National regulators like the MHRA couldn’t get involved."
Same rules - different sign off.
If you have access this is the best explanation I've found.

Let’s see if the good doctor is worth listening to....

He’s a Doctor that doesn't practice in a clinical setting.

He doesn’t work in public health.

He hasn’t practiced medicine in decades. His first listed employment was as a GP. Then he had two jobs as a pathologist. (Only worked with dead people). He’s been a CEO for over 20 years now and hasn’t been practicing medicine in at least that long.

He claims COVID isn’t anything like SARS - it is quite literally exactly that: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

Has conveniently removed the name of the private laboratory he’s CEO of in current bios - it’s Stirrat Laboratories - who currently administer COVID-19 tests.

He’s the CEO of Western Medical Assessments - a company that makes money from medical malpractice lawsuits.

... what a stunning turn of events.

The real story is this:

He’s no longer qualified to speak medically on the subject, but instead makes a double-whammy of profits for his companies if he does three simple things:

  1. Says COVID isn’t real and encourages people to ignore safety measures
  2. Provides testing for the increased number of people who contact COVID after following his advice
  3. Provides medical malpractice advice/lawsuits on behalf of families of people who subsequently die from coronavirus.
Wow.

Ka-fucking-Ching for good old Dr Hodkinson.

So in other words: “compromised, unqualified person who makes money from covid claims anti-covid measures are ineffective and dangerous.”

clutches pearls to chest and faints in surprise.[/QUIOTE]

Regional scoreboard is actually not at all bad given the rise. In case you live in London.

London: 2823 - up big from 2081 Now double every other region.

Midlands 1461 - also up from 1356.

North East 698 - up slightly too from 652.

Yorkshire 1360 - down from 1520. Biggest fall today.

But North West also down to 1374 from 1406. Well under half the London total.
