You could argue that that’s what’s happening without a vaccine...Let Darwin’s law do it’s work.

Having had Covid and being confirmed I have the antibodies I luckily got through it, however it wasn't pleasant and I'd do anything to avoid catching it again. Its not an upgraded flu for those in the vulnerable group the advice to isolate is 100% correct.Let Darwin’s law do it’s work.

Darwin's law is a natural process (how I read it) Covid is man made and is destroying lives and families, there's nothing natural about it, do anything you can to protect yourself, your families and friends.
Sorry, didn't mean it like that, just something that has happened by mistake, my bad. How’s COVID man made?
Hysterical scaremongering has been the default position of most of the UK media during this crisis and the Guardian has been more guilty than most. The information on this forum (which has often come from real people working in the NHS and Science) has been mostly better informed than anything in the press. Thanks to Ric for keeping us ahead of the curve. Not entirely sure there’s need for such alarm.
A careful read of the piece informs that 80% of people would now take the vaccine, which would be a success, but I suppose the headline writer has achieved their purpose.
This wave was predicted to be smaller but longer as we are supressing it now when at the beginning we went into lockdown too lateBeen wondering if there is something different about this second wave. Has the virus become more infectious or deadly. The 1918 19 spanish flu second wave was different and more deadly than the first apparently. In this pandemic alot of countries have been worse hit second time round. You can kind of understand that in countries that have come out of a strict lockdown and then a second less strict lockdown. But you cant really apply that logic to countries that havent really had a total lockdown such as Sweden and Brasil. My understanding is that even in both these countries they have tried to implement more control measures but cases have still risen inexplicably after a steady and long decline. Surely these second surges just cant be down to just countries doing more testing.
Sweden and brazil went for herd immunity and it failed , they were not ready for a second wavei understand and agree with you, but how does the above rationale explain the big second surges in Sweden and Brasil. Even in Germany, the country in Europe which has dealt with covid the best, they are really struggling to deal with a massive second wave.
Yes because transmission is more likely indoors and length of time is important as well, without a mask , you should eat and leave , why do you still need it explainingDoes it really matter if someone eats their food and stays after for an hour? It’s standard in a restaurant to get the table for 2 hours what’s with all the faux outrage? People are trying to make a living under the current rules, fair play I say they are not breaking them so good luck to them.

The question is why have Brasil and Sweden had a second wave? When they havent changed anything habit wise. My point is the virus may have changed??Sweden and brazil went for herd immunity and it failed , they were not ready for a second wave
I am not following you , just catching up
the virus hasnt changed enough to cause it , is it winter , i suppose it is in sweden but i dont know about the other . Truth is covid needs very little invitation to spread , it just takes one cluster caused by a visitor and it 's off and they have no defence because they went with herd immunityThe question is why have Brasil and Sweden had a second wave? I don’t particularly like Christmas or turkey, could we call it going out and getting leathered day ?I said once before what we should have done. Though I know it was never going to happen.
Tell people treat Christmas as a virtual one and a religious festival - NOT a holiday this year - with no easing of restrictions.
But announce that a new bank holiday will be created as soon as it is clear we are in a position to do so. Maybe March or April.
Call it Thanksgiving as that was created to give thanks for being rescued in the US and involves a turkey dinner.
Just as the end is in sight inviting everyone to party, hug and kiss because of dates in a calendar is beyond mad.
Though incredibly hard to stop and popular.
Just all but certain to cost more than it gains in both tragic lives lost and finance when we need to lockdown through Jan and Feb to pay for it.
