Absolutely right , i dont think you will get piled on like i do when i say it will be summer before everyone that will have it gets it , then the size of the anti vaccers has yet to be seen , people need to recognise that life will not be totally normal till summer at the earliest

My suspicion is that there will be a smaller than thought amount refusing to have the jab, in the main several factors will come in to play.

Clearly the powers that be have not rolled out a big PR and public information programme yet. It will come.

As is becoming more apparent each year the population of this country will drink in what msm celebs and so forth tell them so chuck a couple of million to the likes of Ant and Dec, Rylan, Holly Willoughby, Ashley Banjo, to have it live on TV and that will do the majority.

Add this to the fact that if as I am sure they will have the common sense to require it, there are likely to be constraints on travel amongst other things for those without vaccine, which will convince a fair few.

I Would have been surprised had there not been lots telling everyone who will listen they wont be indulging at this stage. Par for the course.

I believe they have already manufactured quite a bit of the Oxford vaccine in anticipation of it being approved. If so that will help speed things up.
They have in India and Australia

Don't think anyone says it won't be mid summer until we are all done, but if the 9 groups are done by April, and I think they will, then most things will get back to normal before the rest of thepopulation get theirs.
I also think take up won't be a problem I'm expecting well over 80% taking it, which is fine.

195 England hospital deaths more details:

Sheffield at 16 and Manchester at 14 had most deaths today. The next most was 12 in Sandwell in the Midlands. As Manchester rarely records everything over the weekend they might this weekend have changed methods to do so. Hence the apparent NW rise.

Other regions: 62 Midlands, 54 NE & Yorkshire.

5 deaths aged 20 - 39, 7 aged 40 - 59, 65 aged 60 - 79, 118 aged 80+

I think it is very clear indeed that there is nobody anticipating anything to come up with the Zeneca one, and we are pretty much just waiting on a few formalities to be tied up.

biden , obama and george bush have all said they will have it live on air , we could do with charlie or the queen doing the same over here , we have plenty on tv willing to do the same so hopefully that will help , of course the anti's will say they are getting a placebo , some minds just wont change

I believe they have already manufactured quite a bit of the Oxford vaccine in anticipation of it being approved. If so that will help speed things up.

They have in India and Australia

There is UK production already underway and the vaccine is being licenced globally so that it can be distributed in bulk to all countries that want it. The Indian manufacturer is one of the biggest vaccine producers in the world.

I am older than most on here (same band as Tony Blair who talked of it on Newscast on the BBC this week) but not likely to get the vaccine before March so am under no illusions that this will all be done rapidly.

But we only really need to get half way through the number of bands on there to cover around 90% of the most vulnerable. Even if they only work 50% to stop deaths or serious illness that will make a huge cut in the care provision and deaths by end of March. Just as we move into Spring when numbers will wane as they did this year

We are fortunate with the timing in that respect as all the factors seem to go in our favour.

Nobody expects Covid to vanish or deaths not to happen by April. But if they are at a level that no longer makes them the only news of the day then that will be a huge step forward.

72 is not old and while I understand she is willing to take the risk I don't think she should, another couple of months before she likely gets the vaccine, the odds don't stack up, hope she's ok whatever she does.
She is a lifelong asthmatic and that's why she had to shield originally.
I think the way she looks at things is that another few months will mean missing out even more on precious growing up moments of her grandchildren.
Of course it can be argued that a few more months of this could lead to decades of opportunities later on, but she doesn't see it like that. After all, there are no guarantees in life save taxes and death ;-)

The anti vacc's are like flat earthers they make a racket on the internet,so peole think they are prevalent, in real life the vast majority people think they are nutters are ignore them.

Andrew Lloyd Webber was on Andrew Marr today. He volunteered for the vaccine trial and does not know yet if he had the placebo or the vaccine, but will find out if/when it is approved. He says he is confident this will make enough difference by April that he is now launching his new West End Musical - Cinderella - then.

Hope so

There is also the question of how many will turn up for their second dose , how to we get them there so it is not wasted , so many logistics to be worked out

NHS chiefs say the early vaccines wont make any difference to the winter hospital admissions , we all have to consider the rules even the daft ones , my fear is a massive spike after the holidays

I would think that by April there could be only minimal disruptions, I reckon there will be a full Etihad before the end of this season.

Yes because transmission is more likely indoors and length of time is important as well, without a mask , you should eat and leave , why do you still need it explaining

So someone else comes in and takes the table meaning more people have potentially been exposed? Great logic Karen.

England hospital deaths 3 wks v 2 wks v last wk v today with NW total and %

132 / 27 / 20%

222 / 37 / 17%

208 / 32 / 15%

195 / 37 / 19% TODAY

Let us hope the increase in NW % is just a blip, A otherwise sub 200 is good to see even on a Sunday.
