Thats a matter of opinion. My opinion is that he hasn't. At least not consistently. Bernie hasn't had many minutes in the PL either.
Which one, never mind two, of Sterling, Mahrez and Torres have been better than Foden in the league to the point where Foden hasn’t started the last 6 games?

It’s just more Pep contradictions. He’s tying himself up in knots at the minute but we’re winning and that’s all that matters.

If we go all the way this season, Phil Foden is on track to start 32 games and make 53 appearances. At 20 years old.

Seriously what on earth are you lot complaining about. Come back when he's actually not getting any game time and the team is suffering for it.

Ok, if that's what he's on track for then fair enough. I just know he's an exceptional player and fear he's not played today, will play in a meaningless game in midweek and won't play against Utd - when he's good enough to be brilliant against Utd.

Was just checking the stats for Mason Mount (as he's playing for Chelsea right now) and he made 53 appearances at 20 years old - though he has 155 first team appearances in total to Foden's 89.

I’ve had no problem with the way Pep has brought on Foden until these past 6 games, which will be 7 next week. He’s way beyond being a cup game player.

I want him to play when he’s on form but he can’t play every game. We won today comfortably and there are plenty of games coming up with his name on them.

That said I am surprised Pep didn’t bring him (or anyone) off the bench.

When the champs league has its break, Phil will play more in the league. Obvious. Obviously if BT spout their shit stirring bull shit, even city fans will start to believe it.

I haven’t watched a single minute of a game on BT. What shit am I swallowing?

86 of Mounts appearances have come in the Championship, Eredivisie and EFL Trophy while Foden has only ever been involved at PL and CL level.

Mount for Chelsea (aged 21): 69 apps, 9 goals
Foden for City (aged 20): 87 apps, 19 goals

Why is so much emphasis placed on starts in the league as if nothing else matters? We play to win every competition and up until this week, every game has had something riding on it, he’s playing in competitive games it’s just a random meaningless stat that he hasn’t started the last 6 league games when we’ve had a game in a different competition that he’s featured in between every one of those league games.
Excellent post. We are in an improving position now. We could field an "alternative" 11 against Marseilles without a dramatic drop in standards and people would complain because some player who played today isn't getting a game.

Yep its why I said first team appearances rather than premiership.

Think Mount has had more league appearances at 20, though not by much.

Still think Foden should have more games.

Fcukinellman, Pep’s fluffers come out with some shite but this is pushing it.

This is an obsession! He is 20 and part of an elite European level squad. He has to earn it and make his selection almost compulsory. At this level, nobody should be guaranteed a place, especially not a 20-year-old with his whole career ahead of him.

The only thing random here is your brain cell. Do you think all games are equal? A dead rubber’s as prestigious as a key league game? Fcukinell man, the happy clappers come out with some shite but this is pushing it.
I’d be questioning if you even have any after that comment. There hasn’t be a single dead rubber game so far this season, Wednesday will be the first.

Nowhere did I even begin to say all games are equal, i said all have had something riding on them, if you don’t value the carabao or the champions league then that’s fine but the club do.

if you think the champions league games are dead rubbers before qualification is achieved then I’ve no idea what you deem important.

Nobody has said he should be guaranteed a place.

Some people are just sick of seeing other less deserving players being given more opportunities and watching this guy get played in second rate games in whatever position the manager fancies resting one of the older players.

Some people will make excuses until he's 36, some will say "he mustn't have been good enough" if he leaves for the opportunities his talent deserves and some will say "he had to leave to improve" when he goes on to be a roaring success. They're the same things the Chelsea fans say/ said about De Bruyne and it's bullshit. Kev was an obvious world class talent who had to leave to prove it because his manager wouldn't give him opportunities.

And I'm not saying he is going to leave, I'm just saying that some people have been and will continue to make excuses for his lack of meaningful minutes for the rest of time.

It's not even like he should be picked because he's a local lad and it's nice for the supporters; he's genuinely one of the best players in our squad. Some still don't see that.

Have you considered why he is now one of the best players in our squad, other than his natural talent, when we are filled with world-class players?

It’s mad how so many still just see Foden as a kid. He’s not, he’s a first teamer and a very important first teamer. When he does come off the bench or starts cup games he’s often either our best player or changes the game. The fact that after this weekend he wouldn’t have started 7 league games on the trot is inexcusable.
