Hancock on ITV just now justified Stockport, Tameside and Trafford NOT moving to tier 2 - which they did consider carefully he said based on the numbers - but he decided no on the grounds I have been repeating in here since August. Glad the penny has dropped.

In an urban area like GM you just make the numbers rebound up in the areas you exempt because everybody goes there.

Not rocket science and as I have said made obvious in August with Wigan. But pleased they have done it for the right reasons it would seem and do actually get this point.

Why I think we might soon see the tiers abandoned as it is not a problem with the tier structure unique to GM.

Other watch areas on request in Kent:

Dartford 70 cases - down from 119. Total cases 3508. Pop score up 62 to 3115. Weekly Pop DOWN from 514 to 504.

Medway 331 cases - down from 408. Total cases 10, 895, Pop score up 119 (most I have seen today) to 3911. Weekly Pop DOWN from 821 to 809.

Looking at the Welsh 11,000 add ons today on the days they actually happened every day but one in the week to 15 Dec had over 2500 cases - three of them 2600/2700.

They were reporting a few hundred only in most of the past days.

These numbers for Wales are really bad. What on earth is going wrong there.

Happily I finally persuaded my best friend using these 11,000 cases not to go stay in Wales over Christmas. Her friends who wanted her there had actually asked her to self isolate before leaving Manchester as they were worried about her coming to Wales as GM was so much worse than Wales these days and they did not want her to infect the country.

Oh the irony.

Im in the thick of it here and it is rife. Going through the communities here like a dose of salts. Work is ravaged by it too

could have had any test they liked they still would have made greater Manchester tier 3.

where I live in Trafford pop score has been below 100 for many weeks , it’s now 110. Yes there are other tests as well perhaps you could show me this data for Trafford ?

when Hancock announced Bristol coming down to tier 2 today he said it’s because it’s pop score has come down to 145. That’s his words.
where I live we have been below 100 for weeks and yet we have been in lockdown for months.

way below liverpool , way below Bristol which has been moved down.

he may as well have said today

Bristol doing well , 145you in the south tier 2

trafford in the north , 110 fuck off.

have a look at heald place data about other factors like hospitals it’s a joke.
You cant compare bristol to manchester

A lot of today's add on cases actually are dated from 14 December which in England alone has one of the highest wave 2 daily total so far of around 26,000. Though it has been higher around 9/10 Nov. Where we thought the peak of wave 2 might be once.

The numbers you see quoted are the tests reported today and they spread over several past days when they were actually carried out so you always know the number of cases in total is right to today but you do not really know the exact number allocated to yesterday as todays numbers will really be spread over the past few dates.

Sorry to hear that. I lived in Wales for quite a few years and love the country. Heart breaking to see it in so much trouble.
Some fella on C4 news just said that in Swansea the figures equate to 2 people getting it every 5 mins. Thats where I am and got to say I dont feel too clever myself today

So sale where I live has a lower infection rate than Bristol which has been downgraded?
What are the government and Hancock doing? They are fucking idiots.
Now talk of a january lockdown yet we were told weeks ago we should be ok by the spring.
This is a farce.

The new restrictions, due to come into force at 0001am on 26 December, are expected to include the shutting of all non-essential shops as well the closure of pubs, bars and restaurants apart from takeaway services

This is what we should be putting in pla e now but we will react instead of being proactive as we have been all along

Not if you had paid attention and accepted any promises were entirely stupid and irresponsible

Overall, cases increased in the majority of age groups but the biggest rise is among 30 to 39 year-olds, where the rate stood at 266.0 cases per 100,000 people in the week to 13 December, up from 196.4.

For 40 to 49 year-olds, the rate rose from 201.8 to 268.3 - the highest rate among all age groups

Hopefully we will be in a better place by spring but in the meantime need to be careful
