I know we will ramp up, but how do you propose to get the most vulnerable to a vaccination station in the middle of the night?
We came out of one on December 2nd. Less than 3 weeks ago. Constant lockdowns arent sustainable and don’t seem to work in the long term.I am more convinced than ever we now need a national lockdown at least for January and it is not a clever idea to let it formulate piece by piece over coming days and weeks as we seem wont to do. Decisive and swift are the only things that work. Dithering only makes things worse and extends the length you need to retain the very oppressive measures. And kills the economy even more.
I fear we might have been distracted a bit much by Brexit over the past week or two and that has delayed taking the action we have for long enough it may already be unstoppable.
Containing this new variant from reaching all parts of England - indeed much of the UK - is likely a boat that has already sailed. But giving it more days and weeks to get on with it is about the most dangerous strategy you could choose.
Vaccinations have always been done on saturdays anyway, 24hrs is impossiblewell given we are on lockdown taxis , give them some money and income.
clearly the most vulnerable can come in the day or be attended in care homes.
this needs a national rapid effort not a few gps doing jabs monday to Friday.
all approved vaccines should be deployed quickly And on a coordinated .

I agree. The promise of a vaccine is the only thing keeping people onboard. It does make you wonder what the situation would be if that wasn’t on the horizon.I suppose the fear with us being drip fed us good news about tomorrow, is that people never reach the stage where they just say, 'No, you need to do something now - get your arses in gear with everything else and stop dropping people in it'. We really have to be careful, if they get lazy with vaccine distribution and other measures, we will be locked into this constant cycle of 'increasing anxiety and despair then relief at good news coming / a brief respite in the outbreak and restrictions - then back to the anxiety and despair at the realisation things are out of control'.
Personally, I think that's what we were given brains for - to realise when we're repeating the same unacceptable cycle over and over, to step in, take control and lay out realistic expectations and a plan we can all cope with and know will be in place for the forseeable. Constant change and an uncertain future are a bit of a disaster for morale, adherance to what we need to do, and mental health.

which would explain why it was still ramping up during the last national lockdown, Schools were still open

There is massive preparation for delivery of vaccination of the UK population in just over 5 months. Thats 400,000 a day.fine 12 hours 15 whatever.
it’s a national emergency . Every approved vaccine we have should be being deployed as quickly as possible.
I don’t see any national vaccine plan to get these vaccines out as quickly as they are needed.
we got testing stations and even nightingale hospitals built quickly and urgently and now when we have the vaccine it seems to be let the gps do it in their surgeries during the week.

If the last one had worked we wouldn’t be back at square one within 3 weeks. The wales circuit breaker didn’t work despite many on here saying it’s what we should have done. I know teachers and schools are going beserk about the extra work, and I don’t blame them, but the testing in secondary schools may prove worthwhile. My other half is now being tested 3 times per week at Trafford NHS trust. Anything has got to be better than lockdown every other month.Unfortunately death is very sustainable.
Sorry I’ve not read the last few pages. Are they issuing the vaccination on Sunday ? But only in day light hours ?Of course it's serious, but expecting the old and or vulnerable to venture out in the middle of a winters night ain't going to happen

I agree. The Wales lockdown was a weird one, and didn't work by all accounts.If the last one had worked we wouldn’t be back at square one within 3 weeks. Think so too. Did the calculator for my daughter and it said between 24 th Dec and Jan 20 th and she’s already been done. Though I suppose it may be giving dates for both vaccinations to be done.We are experts at doing vaccinations , the nhs has it covered and large event capacity will be used , it will be fine

We simply don't have the stocks of vaccines to do that at the moment having advance orders and holding physical stocks are very different as the Oxford vaccine comes online expect to see the ramp with sports stadia and popup centres appearing.fine 12 hours 15 whatever.
