There is a real sense of irresponsible reporting during the last 48 hours, but that is what Boris and these bunch of incompetent twats were counting on.

There is and always will be mutation, the scientists aren't fucking stupid, they were waiting for it and identified it straight away.

All this is just to scare the masses, enabling Boris to walk back his populist Christmas five-day grace period.

It had the further added bonus of bringing London and the South East to heel, knowing the economic blowback and a Capital population that seemingly doesn't take the existing tiers seriously enough, won't dare question a mutation.

It's classic deflection from the fuck-ups this government has achieved on a daily basis.

It has additional pay-off, evidencing to an outraged South East that the rest of the country aren't getting a free pass, either, reducing the Xmas Day regulations.

I liken it to the FFP reporting on us. They want the scariest narrative, people who aren't qualified to report and deliver the facts because it is not their area of expertise.

I think the full dataset has been submitted, and the sense I have is that oxford/az believe the lower dose should be approved.

The regulator will make the call, but they are able to make a conditional approval of the lower dose subject to the confirmation later.

I suppose it comes down to arguing that the higher dose hasn't caused serious side effects, so a lower dose probably won't.

4 EAST MIDLANDS was 192 - Up15% - Now 208 - Up 20% Pop up by 16

5 WEST MIDLANDS was 188 - Up 15% - Now 207 - Up 24% Pop up by 19

6 NORTH EAST was 166 - Up 7% - Now 174 - Up 11% Pop up by 8

7 YORKSHIRE & HUMBER was 154 - Up 0.3% - Now 162 - up 11% - Pop up by 8

8 NORTH WEST was 148 - Up 9% - Now 160 - up 20% - Pop up by 12

9 SOUTH WEST was 99 - Up 25% - Now 114 - up 41% - Pop up by 15


The whole country is rising. As this information is based on 5 days old case data I can see that North West is already above Yorkshire and Humber now and likely North East in next day or so too. If current trends continue.

Back to being the most vulnerable region outside of the three main southern ones and the West Midlands (though it s closer than it should be there too).

If this new strain migrates northwards it may well be particular trouble for the NW.

From what I hear medical people have been told to expect to be issuing the mass vaccination programme from 2 weeks tomorrow - by which they seem sure the Oxford vaccine will be ready to go and approved. A friend of mine has been told this too as she is in the very vulnerable category and they wanted to assess the best way for her to access it. She was led to believe her jab could be done in the Etihad complex somewhere that week.

My parents both late 80's with conditions have been told to expect w/c 4/1/21

I understand I am far from alone in terms of having no sense of stability in plans right now but this is easily the worst I have felt during all of this. Not a post to point fingers, politicise or blame anyone but i'm absolutely crushed. It can only get better eventually but for me this is a dark day.

Have I read correctly that this strain has been in Netherlands and Denmark already? Or is this completely new?

Hancock just said tier 3 worked with the old strain to suppress but will not work with the new one as it is too infective so if it starts to spread beyond where it is then those areas will be in tier 4 by the sound of it.
